@aegie: HAHA she only wears gold sandals, she refuses anything else. And that's only because I finally hid the dirty white ones that were getting too small that she was obsessed with first. I've tried so many different shoes but she says NO mommy and goes for the same pair.

@LuLu Mom: my 2 year old also wants a say in how she dresses. So I pick out 2 shirts every day and 2 bottoms. She can pick her shirt and bottom and if I'm super on top of things, I'll hide all her shoes except the 2 that I think will match and let her choose from those two. I think giving them options really does help make them feel like "they've dressed themselves". But it's such a production!

Yes, I lay out 5 outfits for the week, and she gets to pick which one she wears. She can be quite the diva at 20 months!

Yes, but also a texture sensitivity. I make it my job to buy shirts without tags and without any appliques because they then have that weird lining on the inside, which is a no go.

@mediagirl: your LO sounds like my LO. My husband says I give in to her too much. But it's either that or I spend an hour each morning fighting with her about what to wear. Giving her an option between two outfits doesn't work because she'll reject both. She chooses comfort also - or hello kitty. I have to take her shopping with me now because I've bought her numerous pieces of clothing that she flat out doesn't touch with a ten foot pole. So sad because I see all these cute things that I can't get her because all she wears is leggings plus a t shirt. Saves me money I guess. I wonder what the balance is between allowing them to have opinions vs letting them run the show. She's starting to have preferences with more than just clothing.

Yes but she's sensitive to textures and likes comfort over anything else. She will not wear sandals or flip flops, all shoes must be worn with socks. She won't wear clips or ponytails in her hair for more than 20 minutes at a time.

I give her two outfits in the morning and she usually says no to both and then there is a tantrum as I make her take off her sleep shirt. Where's the eyeball rolling emoticon when I need it?

Not yet, thankfully. But she is very particular about shoes!! There are only two pairs she will wear. Sigh. No sandals whatsoever. And she's picky about whether it's a hair clip, ponytail day or no hair do day.

She's starting to be! She loves picking out her own clothes and she will NOT take her pink, cherry print rain boots off.
