I would love to be able to raise my family here but we probably won't be able to afford it long-term. Still, for now it's great. There are hardly any kids on our block, though we aren't too far from some parks. It's very much a young professionals or older established professionals area-- people with kids tend to move to more family friendly neighborhoods, which is exactly what we plan to do when we have kids. We have a very thriving parent community in our neighborhood that I think is a bit special for our city. The restaurants and businesses are very accommodating to family and there are lots of parks around. But, living in the city with a baby is definitely more challenging than before we had her. I love my new neighborhood. It's no Park Slope, but that's ok! We live 3 blocks from Prospect Park, close to the lake. We're near the YMCA, a cafe that caters to parents, and a bunch of other playgrounds. While we don't have a "young" neighborhood, we have lots of kids and lots of parents with new babies or pregnant mommies. That being said, people need to slow down on our neighborhood roads! They drive way too fast considering there are kids everywhere. </p>
