My 3yo is very much attached to her lovey, but she's only ever had it at nap and bedtime (or long car rides during sleep times). She'll sometimes ask for it when she's upset but she knows she can rest with it in her room.

Yep, my 3.5 year old is very attached. I wouldn't mind so much if she didn't suck/chew on it, so it gets super nasty. But it's really only for bed time and for comfort when she needs it. I try to tell myself she (hopefully) won't still be chewing on it in college!

My DD is 3.5 and still has hers. She uses two blankies to snuggle...and will borrow her little brothers is she is too lazy to go get hers. They each have a designated one for the car as well. No intention of taking it away! She also sucks her thumb still.

DD still has hers, she isn't *as* attached but still loves it, and she'll be six in March. Why would someone take a lovey away?

I also had my blankey until I was married, where it disappeared. We think our dog ate it!

Is 3 considered old for a lovey? My guy has 4 that he sleeps with but one is his extra special friend. He got him as a present when his brother was born which I think is so sweet! I wouldn't dream of taking him away.

Both of my girls have to have their blankies when going to bed, traveling anywhere, or if we go over to someone's house. We don't bring them into stores and it doesn't go to school with LO1 but they have them around a lot, they definitely don't stay in their beds when they are up. It doesn't bother me though, I actually had a blanket until I was...we will just say old. I have no intention of making them ever give it up, since it comforts them so much!
