He's lucky to have such a great mommy to rescue him! Our dog is a rescue too. He flinches a lot when we go to pet him, makes me so sad because I feel like someone had to have hit him before we got him. We rescued him 3 yrs ago and he was do malnourished. Two pure-breds and one mutt.<br /> I've read that "hybrid vigor" is a bit of a myth because it's likely that two dogs of different breeds still have similar health issues. The mutt is mostly coon hound. He suffers from seizures. It breaks my heart when they happen, which is about once a month. Other than that he is healthy and active. But my pup is the exception. He had cancer when he was a puppy so he had to have surgery. Now he has a very sensitive tummy and allergies. We have to be careful about what we feed him, and give him lots of meds for his allergies because he's always itching, especialy this time of year. </p>
