I changed out the hinges on the door to the garage since he leaves super early for work and the door slam was so loud. It's better, but I can hear it still and about once a week so do the kids and they get up painfully early.

DH is such a clomper (stomper). He is SO LOUD on the stairs. He doesn't do it intentionally, it's just how he walks.

haha, I only slam doors when I'm annoyed ;) but dh is pretty quiet, though sometimes his voice gets really loud without him noticing, we think because he went to lots of concerts in his teens/early 20s.

We both cringe around our parents though. My dad's sneezes are SO LOUD it is absurd, and he gets so defensive about it. And mil always wears shoes inside, and usually heels--she is so loud!

@mrbee: right? he claims he is being quiet! when I was growing up, my dad had to be out the door between 4-5 am and we never heard him - he was like a ghost! which was impressive for a ranch style, small home. so that's how I am - I excessively and slowly turn doorknobs, lightly run water if needed, walk lightly etc.

Hahahahaha. My husband calls both my daughter and me elephants when he hears us upstairs. Neither of us walk softly. On the other hand, I can never hear him when he's upstairs and I'm down!

No, neither of us are but strangely, my MIL is! When we stayed with her for 4 weeks with our 4 month old DD, we CRINGED whenever she was up and about while LO was sleeping. How can such a small petite woman be SO LOUD? She's otherwise a wonderful person though, but just this one thing. Hahaha, we were such touchy first time parents at the time too. *Bang, slam, crash!* I laugh about it now...

HA this is funny. I am a door slammer on cars and DH gets so mad but I swear it's bc I had a 2 door car forever and the door was bigger and heavier so I am just programmed to slam them!! DH is a heavy walker and it drives me insane!! I can hear him from upstairs and so can DD. He also paces when on the phone and it's the WORST!

I am trying so, so hard to be quieter... to have quieter footsteps and to close doors quietly. I don't know why, but it so hard for me! I will close a door "normally" and then hear it slam... ugh, I don't know how I came to this point. You'd think it'd be so easy to change, but even now I semi-slam the door at least half the time. And that's with me making a massive effort!

Is your SO an accidental door slammer (or a heavy footstomper)? How about you?
