He goes to church with me every Sunday and has for the past two years so he is supportive of my faith. He had no problem having our LO's baptized + he's talked about getting baptized. I just don't ask him if he wants to be Christian/Catholic because I don't want to scare him away. All I can do is step back and let him make decisions about his faith. Our kids are being raised Catholic. I think I would have been fine with someone who was not religious, as long as we shared worldviews/personal beliefs. That would turn me off of religion too. DH's dad was forced into religion as a child so now he wants nothing to do with it. When DH and I first met he was not religious, but that changed as we got to know each other and I started bringing him to church with me. Now, he is definitely a devoted Jesus guy and we will definitely be raising our LO as a Christian. His family is very mixed. Some are some aren't. Although they have different beliefs. DH converted to my faith, because he wanted to and said he felt comfortable. We don't go to mass every Sunday but for the most part we do. When we have a LO they will be baptized and I will take them every week...don't know if I can convince DH to come that often, though! That being said our church (United Church of Canada) is very liberal - supports gay marriage, women's rights, contraception, pro-choice, etc.etc... We had a Catholic wedding and he has agreed to baptize LO, so he's pretty good about it. Honestly, I don't think he has any real objections to Catholicism, but he doesn't want to give up his Sunday going to mass. But he goes to a UU church, so it's not like a lot of churches where the focus would be on specific religious doctrine, it's more about being a positive force in our world & living a good and generous life. There are plenty of people who do not believe in a god that attend. He is agnostic, so we aren't polar opposite, just not exactly alike. And yeah, religion is such a huge part of one's life so it was important to me to marry someone like-minded in that area.
