My mom was kinda weirded out that we named him after Wagon Sr., but when I explained we'd probably refer to him as RJ or Junior, she said "oh, RJ... that's cute." I kind of feel like a kid deserves his own name, not a diminutive version of his father's, or to be called literally "junior" which will always sound juvenile. Wagon Jr. is a Junior!! :) The original plan was to call him Junior but we mostly refer to him as RJ (for Rob Junior). </p> <p>I was the one who originally suggested it, and had to kind of convince Wagon Sr. He was hesitant because he didn't want to seem egotistical for naming his son after himself. </p> <p>We didn't finalize it until after Wagon Jr. was born (plus we were team green!). I always dreamed of naming a son after my husband and I was lucky to marry a guy whose name I absolutely love!! I think Robert is classic and has so many nicknames he (and his friends) can choose from. If Wagon Sr. had a name I did not particularly like, I don't think this would have been an option for us. His family calls him Eddy and its what he went by as a kiddo. </p> <p>We might have daycare call him Eddy but we haven't decided. Both of us realize that Junior is a very informal nickname and we don't want him to go to school being called Junior.
