I put in a random writing sample describing part of a work day, and it said that it was mostly trim, with a category of flabby, and a category of fit and trim.

Yay, my M.A. in English Lit comes in handy!

Definitely flabby, unless I'm actually making an effort to be fit & trim...which I rarely do unless I have to, like on a resume or something. <<< case in point, super flabby comment.

Boo-urns on this test!!! I got "lean" on nouns, verbs, adjectives/adverbs and prepositions. I get one measily "heart attack territory" on using "this that there and it" and it gives me flabby overall? Come on now!!!!

Fun! Well I input several writing samples--mostly emails and board posts, and my results seem to vary depending on what sample I used. A few of them came up Fit and Trim, some Needs Toning, but most of them were Flabby. I tend to ramble when I write, though, so I'm actually quite surprised they didn't all up come up Flabby, or in Heart Attack Territory.

ETA: This comment was Fit and Trim!

@Rubies: I plugged in the last 5 threads you started and... you are "fit & trim" overall! :)

Like me, you use a lot of passive voice.

I just plugged some of my blog posts into this online test!
http://www.writersdiet.com/WT.php

The test found that my writing scores somewhere between "fit & trim" and "needs toning." My main writing flabbiness come from using passive voice! I just find using the active voice to be such an American thing... I struggle with making myself the Subject of so many sentences.

Is your writing flabby or fit?

ps I rewrote this post several times until my text was "fit & trim"!
