@BabyBoecksMom: I know! I'm letting myself live in the delusion that if I wait until the perfect moment to take it away, it will just be soo easy and everything will be great. And I always have a reason for why now is not that moment...

We never had any issues with night waking due to teething until 1 year molars. He was up hourly one night because of it. Also, sometimes a cold / illness will result in a night waking for my son even though he normally STTN.

One thing that I have heard though is that kids start to push their bed times back a little bit if they have an earlier bedtime as they approach age 2.

My son is almost 19 months and we've been dealing with some kind of regression on and off for about 2 months now. It really really sucks. Some of it was/is probably teething but recently I think it's a separation thing- mostly because when he gets up he just moans "MOOOOOOOMY" or "DAAAAAADDDEEEE". Ugh it's so heartbreaking. We let him CIO to a point but he tends to get himself so worked up that he pukes so we go in if we think he's at that point. The MOTN wakeups just seem way harder now that we were so used to getting sleep!

@mossyslane: @betsyboop: I'm so tempted to give her paci back just to get her through this, but I'll feel like all this work has been for nothing. ugh - why can't this be easy? lol

I hear 18 months is awful and the worst time to sleep train. Woo! Guess what we want to do!? Haha. Boo.

I think there's supposed to be an 18 month regression related to separation anxiety, among other things. My LO is not quite 18 months but recently has started waking at night every so often. I'm not sure what your thoughts on sleep training are, but we used Weissbluth's method when we sleep trained at 4 months, and he essentially recommends letting them CIO during this 18 month regression. We tried it a few nights ago and it worked! LO screamed for 10 minutes but put herself back to sleep and has been STTN since. Our LO also uses a pacifier and I'm TERRIFIED to take it away!!!

No advice, we're going through similar issues. LO is 18 months and also apparently getting her 2 year old molars. At her well baby visit the doctor said there wasn't anything physically wrong with her and that she could be experiencing teething pain, separation anxiety, or night terrors.

LO has been getting up 1-3 times a night also. She's a fussy mess and not sleeping well at all. I'm exhausted and ready for this to pass.

Those molars really did us in! I know we had night waking for a long time with that and were unable to take the pacifier away for night-sleeping. When I talked to the pediatrician about it, they said that we had missed the window for taking the pacifier away at night and that we should go ahead and wait until she is 2 and can understand the concept of being a "big girl" more easily. Who knows! ... Anyways, no bonus points for me, but I bet things will be back to good soon

Since she turned 1 yr, DD has always been a good night sleeper (sleeping from 7:30-7:30). However, she will not go to bed before 8 now (9 the past two nights), and she's been waking 1-3/night, crying until we go in to her room.

We just took her paci away last week, she has a cold and she has two (possibly 2) of her 2-yr molars coming in. But none of these things have been a problem when we encountered them previously.

Do you think this is a regression, just toddler sleep, or too many changes at once? And bonus points if you have any advice for how to fix it :-)
