They are so, so dangerous. And o me, they are even more dangerous because the international.community has ignored them for SO. LONG. And there is a huge problem, because this is not just about defeating them in Iraq, but rather trying to figure out what to do about Syria, which has been a breeding ground for extremists for years. I logically know that more intervention is bad, but I feel like standing by isn't helping Iraq or Syria either. </p> <p>I heard a news story on NPR about a Yazidi woman who escaped from the mountain and had a two month old baby. She said her milk ran out and she had him suckle on a goat. I have a two month old, and I just sobbed. I usually don't get too wrapped in the news, but that made my heartbreak. We donated to the Red Cross after hearing it, but I still feel like there is just Nothjng that can be done. I don’t know what we should do. </p> <p>They’re well funded (who wouldn’t be after stealing, by some reports, up to $400 M in cash!), and extremely well organized. They are not just sects of terrorists, they have taken over infrastructure and government; collecting “taxes” on businesses and becoming intertwined in the economies of different areas in Iraq. So, it’s going to be hard to you know, just go in and clean house (even if that were on the table, and the right choice). </p> <p>Why would Israel fund ISIS? I’m missing the “upside” for Israel?</p> <p>I do think that we (the US, I mean) bears some responsibility for what’s going on there now. Our actions in the Middle East in the past decade, and beyond have consequences. It's an Islamic extremist group that is implicated in killing and displacing hundreds, if not thousands, of other Muslims, Catholics, Christians, and other ethnicities in Iraq and Syria in the name of setting up their own Islamic state. They are brutally beheading women, children, and men, raping women, and recently beheaded American journalist James Foley.
