@MamaCate: Thanks! I ended up pumping last night to try to get rid of the plugged ducts and I ended up pumping 6 oz. despite not having pumped in a week. I think all of the plugged ducts are gone but for one, which I plan to try to "massage out" during a steamy shower tonight. I figured I could just pump every few days until my body gets the message, if necessary. Nipples are still sore.... that either means I'm pregnant or about to start the worst period of my life (though thinking it's the latter).

@Shantuck: yuck! I would probably just try to hand express and massage the ducts until you feel better. Maybe in the shower? I remember warm water helping in the early days.

If you are really uncomfortable, I would maybe break out the pump as a last resort but pump as little as possible.

My baby is 7 months old and I decided to start weaning about a month ago by dropping a pumping session each week. A week ago yesterday I was down to one pumping session and finally cut that out. I pumped one time a week ago today for a little bit of comfort and then nothing since. I was mildly uncomfortable for a couple of days and then started feeling much better. However, today I feel kind of engorged and it also feels like maybe I have some plugged ducts. I should also mention that I think my cycle may be returning for the first time so I've had a fair amount of nipple tenderness in the last couple of days (likely not pregnant - took a WONDFO this morning and getting pregnant with DD was nothing short of a miracle). I'm trying to decide whether I need to pump again to relieve the plugged duct / sudden engorgement. This is my second baby and I recall last time feeling like my breasts had just deflated one day shortly after I cut out the last feed/pump. I don't want to end up with plugged ducts but also would like to finally wean. Would you pump again to try to relieve the plugged ducts? The thought of doing so sounds so painful with the nipple soreness I have...
