@agold: thanks, I'm glad I called a 2nd time after reading some of the responses here. I'll definitely report back once the results come in. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing and I can eliminate that worry

I was borderline ICP with my third. The itching was unlike anything I'd experienced before. I'd wake up in the middle of the night dreaming about scratching my feet on a log. The itching was worse on the soles of my hands and feet. I literally scratched my self raw and was bleeding all over. It really escalated a couple days before delivery and I was terrified for the baby. The bloodwork take a few days to come back so there wasn't anything they'd do different in the time between my bloodwork and my scheduled c-section so I just prayed for two days that we'd make it.
Good thing was the itching ended immediately after the delivery.
It was never determined if I had it officially or not. My OB thought it might have been brought on my a round of antibiotics I had taken for a sinus infection and a dose of Tylenol. Both can cause liver function problems.

All that to say get in quickly. If you do have it and are term, they'll deliver immediately. The risk is too great.

@Mrsbells: Oh good! I didn't see your update. Its best to let the doctor's office know and then let them decide when you should come in. I'm glad you can get in tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. Please keep us updated.

@Caly: Thank you! I actually just called them again and insisted on coming in earlier so they have been able to squeeze me in for tomorrow and will be doing the blood work tomorrow.

Definitely tell your dr and get tested! And push to get tested...I don't think my dr really understood the sheer misery of all the itching and finally tested me. Lo and behold I had cholestatis and needed to be closely monitored.

@SweetiePie: ok that makes me feel less crazy... I will definitely ask for the blood work, like you said I wont lose anything by doing that test and I will get peace of mind eitherway.

@pachamama: @agold: Thanks, yeah I am hoping it isnt something serious. My appointment is wed, I did ask if they had availability for tomorrow but they didnt. Since the itching seems better now I will sit tight for now and see how I feel by the morning

As others mentioned, I would call today to let them know. They might prefer to draw your blood now so that the results will be ready by your next appointment.

A girl I know had that itching, mostly in her extremities, and it was that serious liver issue- . Obstetric cholestasis. call your doctor!

@Mrsbells: I've heard that the itching can be something serious. Maybe I'm crazy, but I would probably call my OB's office today and just mention it. Maybe they want you to come in sooner than your currently scheduled appointment. But I really hope its just nothing but an annoyance for you!

@Mrsbells: As someone who DID have Cholestasis, I just wanted to say that it definitely cannot hurt to mention it to your OB. I also googled after my itching and saw Cholestasis as a possibility. I didn't think I would have it, figured it couldn't hurt to tell my OB.
She also thought it would be nothing but ordered the blood test for Cholestasis just because it's not invasive and the outcome of Cholestasis is stillbirth. Low effort to avoid a potentially awful outcome.
Well wouldn't you know, I did come back with elevated bile salts and had to be induced at 37 weeks. I was 36 when I found out so it was quite a curve ball but so glad I asked. Had I said nothing my 23 month old may not be here today.

Seriously, it's just a blood draw and worth the peace of mind!

I was super itchy too. Mostly if I was tired. So odd! I would slather lotion on all the time. Mention it to your OB to be safe, but I think being itchy is a common/annoying issue.

@T.H.O.U.: Yep over the weekend I switched to Cetaphil which is non foaming and is fragrance free. I have already noticed an improvement in the itching but will still mention it at my appointment

This is my 2nd pregnancy so I know all about the dry stretching skin causing itchy belly and breasts. This time around I'm itchy all over especially arms, legs and back. I've looked online and seen that I could be nothing but also could be caused by a serious liver issue if the itching is severe. I'll be mentioning this to my OB as I have an appointment this week but just curious if anyone else is raelly itchy. Over the weekend I also decided to try switching my lotion and body wash to cetaphil and I have noticed an improvement since I switched so it probably is just dryness but its driving me crazy.
