another mom at daycare gave me the tip to mix prunes into their food every time you feed and it helps keep them regular...it has helped my DS so much!! who knew, not me!

@purrpletulips: that's the problem, I have been totally mixing up her diet..she hasn't had bananas since she first started solids about a month ago! that's why I'm so stumped as to why she's having these issues. the past few days has really been only prunes (and at dinner I'll mix it up with something else - sweet potatoes, carrots) and before that, it was mostly pears. :(

@sorrycharlie: we had a similar problem with DS recently. Watch what solids you are feeding her. I didn't think about it and was giving lots of constipating foods: rice cereal, bananas, applesauce. When I realized what I was doing I stopped giving him any of those and instead switched to plums, prunes, pears, peaches, green beans and peas. Within about a day he had his system almost cleared out. That was about two weeks ago and I now watch what combination of foods he eats each day and we haven't had any further problems.

@sorrycharlie: I love your analogy that she's grumbling like a little old man in her play pen. LO does the same thing! And it was exactly that, he wasn't all out screaming all the time, but the slightest thing would set him off so easily.

So great about the bottle though! Did you warm the juice or leave it room temp/cold? I found that LO looooved taking the colder juice as it really soothed his sore gums. I don't see any teeth yet, but he's chewing on anything he can get his sights on and loves the cooler things!

@2PeasinaPod: yes she was born 9/27! :) yeah she's not even like screaming-miserable, just so irritable. if the toy doesn't move exactly the way she wants, she yells. she's currently grumbling like a little old man in her playpen while she plays. and at night she's up every 30m - 1h. which could be teeth, who knows, but I've never wanted to change a poop diaper so badly in my life, lol!! I'm thinking I'm going to make sure that every morning from now on, she's getting prunes, peaches, pears or apricots. Prob prunes every other day. hahaha.

on the bright side, she has refused the bottle since she was 6 weeks (when she had the last one) and drank 1 oz prune juice from a bottle yesterday! not sure if she'll do that with milk, but now I have an option for our flights in may!!

@sorrycharlie: I think your LO was born a day before or after mine (he was born 9/26), but he did struggle for a bit after that 2 week incident. We started him on an every other day juice regiment until he started going regularly again. Then we introduced peaches/prunes/pears and stopped the juice. He still goes just about every other day.

I feel like once she gets through this rough patch and gets it out, she'll be like a different kid for you. LO got so backed up and it made him so crabby...and I would be too if I hadn't gone in 2 weeks! Haha...I never knew so much poo could come out of such a little body!

@2PeasinaPod: oh lordy. that's what I'm afraid of! she's never been a spit up baby (she's 6.5 months now) and this week she's been pukey after she eats so I'm thinking there's just no room for it. I feel terrible. But it's not even like I gave her bananas for weeks, so I'm wondering if she'll ever get used to solids or if she's gonna be one of those kids that requires a regular dose of somethin' to keep things moving? lol.

@sorrycharlie: Hah...4 alarm bath...we had one of those the other day!

Hoping the suppositories work soon! LO went through a period like this and we tried everything. After 2 weeks, he finally managed to get something small out, and it was like his stopper. Suddenly, the flood gates opened and he poo'ed 2 weeks' worth. So gross.

I couldn't decide between diapers or potty.

LO hasn't done more than a raisin here or there in the past week or two, no matter how many pureed prunes I've fed her, or ounces of prune juice the last couple days. So I gave her a suppository today.

Wish me luck! I don't even care if it's a 4-alarm bath, just tired of her being miserable.
