@Cherrybee: I'm right there with you. Tonight looks like it's going to be an extension if the rubbish day we've had. We started the bedtime routine after she woke up at 630 and it's now 815 and we can't get her to settle :( usually night time sleep hasn't been affected by a crap nap day, but looks like this one might be. Even Dh is frustrated... I don't think he realises what I have dealt with most days this week! Isn't it funny how they can be fine doing something in the day for sleep but not night?

@Foodnerd81: I had so many cards from parents that said "enjoy every minute" are you kidding? I will never say that to a new parent from now on! Yes I know what you mean- after the last wonder week we had a whole week of amazing sleep and naps. I take it C's growth spurt ended then?

@Foodnerd81: Nah, she's given up rolling!! Honestly, she was rolling beautifully for about a week and then one day it was like she had completely forgotten how to do it!! Now we just get face-plants and whingeing when we do tummy time! Strange baby! We went back to the swaddle and the moses basket for a few nights and her sleep was perfect again... even though she naps in her sleep sack and crib (and her naps have been getting better the last couple of days). So tonight, we tried the sack/crib at bedtime and, well, it's not going so well....!

@Cherrybee: We actually went back to the swaddle this week, for naps, and it's helping. So nights, the Miracle Suit int he crib, and naps it's the Woombie in the Rock and Play. So far, this seems to work. She also isn't rolling, but it's impossible to roll in a rock and play anyway. She can still push her fist to her mouth through the fabric.

E is rolling a lot, though, right? You'll get through it and then she will be a great sleeper. Right?

@illumina: We just had the worst week of sleep in her little life, and then last night and today it's been great. She went down for three naps so far today with almost no tears, just gently drifted off to sleep as I bounced, and stays asleep when I put her down. This. Never. Happens. I find you always have a good sleep day or two after the horrible days.

And yes, enjoy the snuggles while you can, but I will never ever tell a new mom to "enjoy every minute". Some of the minutes are just not enjoyable, but you get through them because the enjoyable minutes more than make up for it. But no, no one enjoys bouncing a screaming baby for an hour! :)

@Foodnerd81: @Cherrybee: yup. When I give up and park myself in front of the tv I don't mind. At the back of my mind I always think "what if she never sleeps on her own again and we have to continually hold her??". So I'm hoping its temporary. I should be enjoying this a bit more... She's clingy but so cuddly right now.

@illumina: I had a few days like that this week-- it was actually less stressful to just sit on the couch and get NOTHING done, just hold her (boob in sleeping mouth half the time) for hours. I would have preferred to put her down and do things like take a shower or eat lunch but when I finally gave in and admitted none of those things would happen, it was easier. Growth spurts. They suck.

Oh and I might add that there will be lots of people I know at this party.... but I just don't fancy going on my own. It was spending time with my friend without our babies I was looking forward to! It's all good. I will have a bath and watch Marvel's Agents of Shield with my husband. Pretty lame but not all bad!

@travelingnanny: Crikey, no! I *hate* being alone! Why would I go out alone and watch a giant TV when I could stay in with my husband (and watch a giant TV)?! Nah, I'm a chatter - my greatest pleasure in life is chatting, which is why I love spending time with my girlfriends. It's ok, there will be other times.....

@Cherrybee: See I have no issues with that- he gets her to sleep better than I do! I make him do the put down after night wakings sometimes. I need to read some sleep books, I think. I don't know whether we are still in the 6wk growth spurt (6 days now) but I'm tired of fighting her to nap in the moses basket so she's napped on me all day and I've barely moved.

My LO likes to pick her crankiest fussiest nights for when I'm going out. She started a sweet little bottle strike scream fest the ONE night a month I go out, for my book club. She was screaming as I left and DH eventually texted me that she wasn't taking the bottle and was inconsolable and I had to come home. Super duper relaxing girls night, huh?

@TurtleDoves: We brought her apple picking and had a similar experience. She is usually fine in the carrier, but not that day. She did manage to fall into a light fitful sleep and I was able to get a cute picture at least. My sister saw it and was like, wow C is such an easy baby, look at that... I cleared up any misconceptions by also sending her a photo of what was really happening-- full scream fest in the carseat on the way home.

@illumina: Not at all!! I don't mind the thought of leaving E with her daddy - it's just that he hasn't done a night feed since she was 3 weeks old and has never put her down for an actual nap - I'd feel guilty asking him to cope on his own!!! But when she's less demanding..... Oh and my baby WILL STTN because my Dr Weissbluth book arrived today and I'm on chapter 3 already!!

That sucks but it happens. Why don't you go out by yourself? Maybe dinner or a movie. I know some people don't like to go out alone but I find it so relaxing. It sounds like you could use some time away from the house. Or just be patient and wait until your friends are free again.

@Cherrybee: next time, it'll probably be your baby.
To answer the question, YES: THEY DO PLAN IT. I believe that with all my heart. My son is a PRO at this kind of stuff.

My mom & I planned the punpkin patch for like 4 weeks. We had our cider and our camera and our riding boots on, and LO decides he is going to SCREAM bloody murder the whole time we are there. I think every pic is of him having a meltdown. I spent 2h there and felt like every bone in my body ached, because I was so stressed out the entire time. Thanks LO! And guess who cheered up the minute we got into the car to leave? YUP.

I was supposed to go out with my BFF for the first time since E was born a few weeks back. I was all dressed, hair done, full face of make up before she text me to say her 1 year old had gotten sick and she had to cancel. I had been looking forward to it all week and I must confess I had a little cry....

Well, tonight, I had planned to go out with different friend to a party. I had even bought a new outfit to wear (that we can't really afford). Guess what - she has just text me to tell me that her 3 month old has gotten sick and she has to cancel. I will take the outfit back - good thing I left the tags on.

I'm starting to fear that I'm never getting out of this house again, save for babies' 1st birthday parties and dinner at my in-laws. Lame.
