@jojepie: We bought an extra seat and will be bringing our car seat on the plane and gate checking the other car seat and double snap and go stroller. We both plan on bringing a baby carrier. We are still figuring out when to start carrying them. I'm thinking before we get to security, I'll wear DD in my fly tai. DH will have his Ergo and will be pushing our stroller. He gets super warm so he might not want to wear his ergo until we are on the plane.

We have flown with DS and DD and all those times I never thought about making these baggies. We had enough stuff to carry and worry about and to add this on would have been too much. I agree with pp that infants, especially when worn, just love the airplane noise and just fall right asleep. Toddlers are a little more difficult, but if you time a flight around nap time it's not as bad. I would recommend, wearing your babies when you are at the airport and boarding the plane. It frees your hands and makes it easier for you to prepare your seat for the flight - i.e. storing luggage, getting essentials out to put in the seat pocket for easy accessibility, etc. The added bonus is that your infant might just sleep though everything while being worn. DD was like this during her first flight at 3 months. DS on the other hand is a toddler so we made sure to time the flight around bedtime to ensure that he would sleep during most of the flight.

This is beyond the bag thing, but I thought I'd throw this in there: my dad, who is a commercial pilot, recommends you ask the flight attendant to ask the pilot what time "top of descent" is. That is when you should start nursing/feeding them. You can't always feel the descent, but the pressure changes are starting, and it might be too late by the time you can feel it!

Lovely thought. Truly unnecessary.

TBH, I will still wish for a different seat if babies cry even if you buttered me up with goodies.

The best thing parents of babes/ children can do is to physically keep them contained in their seats. We all share the plane's air, so noise pollution is a consequence of flying.

I wouldn't waste the time. There will be other children on the flight as well. We flew for the first time when our daughter was about 6 months. Everyone was very considerate of her noise. She is older, I recognize, but she was happiest propped up looking at everyone. And everyone around us accommodated by smiling or making faces at her.

It's very thoughtful of you but I don't think it's necessary. It's stressful enough to fly with babies - I wouldn't add this on in terms of preparation, distribution, etc.!

I wouldn't, they are babies and have just as much right to be in the plane as any grinch there. We've flown several times a year for the past 3.5 years and have only run into one miserable human being who asked to be moved. If you really feel the need, maybe just bring rations for the seats surrounding you.

Like everyone else said, infants are the easy ones. It's when you have toddlers that everyone needs the booze.

Have a couple bottles ready to feed, gas drops on hand, and a change of clothes (and diapers/wipes) for alllllll of you guys. You will do just fine! :goodluck:

And if it makes anyone feel better my three year old is a seat kicker. I feel terrible about it but it's really hard to control her legs the whole way through. It's quiet so sometimes I don't notice she's doing it.

I wouldn't worry about it - remember that most of the people on the plane probably have kids at home and have been where you are. We recently flew to Vegas with our 20 month old and were feeling pretty guilty about the fact that he was a little bit restless at the beginning of the flight, but in line for taxis another couple came up to us and said that they had a 6 month old at home and seeing our baby made them miss him and now they wished they'd brought him.

Agree with @anya, it's the older kids who kick seats that are more annoying. I see plenty of adults exhibit selfish and irritating behavior on planes that is far worse than a baby crying. I think bags like this are overkill and give the impression that babies shouldn't be accepted on the plane like any other passenger paying a fare. I think it's fine to apologize in person to those directly around you if the babies get esp fussy. Otherwise just focus on taking care of your babies! Don't worry about what others think. If they can't have some compassion for parents traveling with little ones, their opinion is not worth even considering.

Like everyone else, I think it's super kind and thoughtful of you, but I don't think it's necessary! There are a lot more annoying things on an airplane other than crying babies. People who chew loud, snore, eat smelly food, etc aren't handing out ear plugs and treats! Atleast babies are cute to look at :) Good luck! (And save your money on the earplugs and candy for a treat for you and your babies. Not entitled strangers :) )

I don't like the sentiment of them, and I agree with pps that children have a right to be in public like the rest of us and shouldn't be apologized for. I just flew with my 8 month old and 2.5 year old solo and it was very bad with lots of screaming, but you really can't hear them all that well. In general people were very nice. The people that weren't nice to just glared a lot but didn't say anything.

ETA: oh, and flying with older babies and toddlers is much much worse/problematic than infants!

I would feel really awkward about receiving this. Infants really aren't the problem on planes, even if they cry you can hardly hear it over the cabin noise. It's the ones old enough to kick the seats that are the problem.

I agree that it's unnecessary. When I once flew alone with DD I was stressed out when she had a small meltdown, and when I offered to buy the men around me drinks they just laughed it off and all of them ended up having young kids of their own at home. It's part of life.

I don't think you need to worry about this at all. I think it'll be another thing to carry and worry about on your trip. People are generally very understanding about babies on planes. I've flown with lo1 probably seven or more times between ages 0-3 and never received one negative comment. We did bottles and pacis during takeoff and landing and she never cried for those parts. Also, I know what you mean about the gas/bloat on planes and thankfully that hasn't been a problem for my daughter. Maybe bring some gas drops and just cross that bridge when you get there! :)

I wouldn't. I've flown a lot with DD - when she was under 6 months she always slept gate to gate. When she was a little older, she was still mostly fine, except when she had an ear infection or a cold and her poor little ears hurt her so bad. People were really understanding despite the screaming on landing. I don't think little gifts would have changed anything, and they actually kind of make me uncomfortable because you shouldn't have to apologize in advance for traveling with your babies. Babies have as much right as anyone else to fly  Hope everything goes smoothly for you and your family!

As someone who just flew with my 3 month old for the first time, 4 flights total, I do not think this is necessary. People are pretty understanding that babies may have issues on the flight. It happens. You do what you can. It sounds like you're doing a great job of planning ahead, but I wouldn't add this as one more thing to worry about.

@bluestriped bee: We have been on a lot of planes with both kids and have never done anything like this. Depending on the plane layout you might be able to get a seat in the first row behind a "wall" and then you don't have the seat infront of you issue.

Oh and I have found that feeding at take-off is unnecessary as long as my kids have their pacifiers. So that might also be an option for takeoff and landing.

@catomd00: I totally agree.

We have been on many, many flights with our LOs. While the idea is definitely nice and considerate, I don't think parents should feel required to apologize for their children. I'm not saying you should let your kid scream and be an inconsiderate a-hole, but babies/small children are entitled to travel just like everyone else. It's part of life.
