The reasons are a little complicated, but basically, OPKs measure your LH levels, and women with PCOS tend to have elevated LH levels already, even without ovulation (one of the hormonal imbalances tied to PCOS). So many PCOS women get false positives from OPKs. Something to chat with your doctor about, for sure. Best of luck! Wishing you a quick and short TTC journey! ;) OPKs predict when you are ABOUT to ovulate. When it tests positive (or smiley) it means generally you will be ovulating within the next 24-36 hrs, depending on the OPK. We realized we were ready when we were super excited that "maybe we'll be pregnant!" I was just wondering - can anyone send me to a guide for all the acronyms?! What do I need to know? I have PCOS & Endometriosis (and a fallopian tube issue) but I just had surgery for the Endo in November, so supposedly I'm more fertile now. My cycles are REALLY long -- how do OPK's work? Just general stuff and baby dust would be great.
