@bubblegum: I've had the Mirena for 9 months and I swear it's giving me acne and hair loss. Around 4-5 months after getting it inserted I got huge hormonal cystic chin acne. I went to the dermatologist and he gave me some creams but he said hormonal acne is internal so if I really want to get rid of it I'd have to take a pill. I wasn't quite ready to do that so I got the creams and tried changing my skincare routine. The hormonal acne has gotten better but I still have lots of blemishes and clogged pores.

Go see a dermatologist and they'll inject cortisone into the bad pimples to take care of them right away. It's a tiny needle and you barely feel it.

Which IUD do you have? I have Mirena and don’t have this issue.

Hormonal shifts can cause major problems with acne! The reddit subthread skincare addiction has helped me get control of my postpartum acne. Basically it involved taking myself back to basics and removing a lot of acne fighting stuff I was trying, introducing a lot of hydration and moisture, and starting a chemical (not physical) exfoliant. I also know of people that the iud just didn’t work for. I just had one placed a few months ago about 3 months postpartum and my acne has gotten better, not worse (although it’s definitely not gone)

My acne was/is due to PCOS, but I had a lot of success going to a good esthetician. She taught me how to take care of my skin, hormonal imbalances and all. It can be pricey, but it did such wonders for my skin.

Back in January I got my IUD put in and acne came and never left. I figured I would give my body time to adjust but I still have it. Its not so much pimples as it random blemishes (I guess I would say) than anything. No lie, I can be sitting there doing nothing a new "pimple" come up. It's not your normal pimple where you can pop it and be done with it.

Has anyone dealt with this and what did you do to get rid of it? I have graduation coming up and was hoping it would be gone by now and I can't see my doctor until late June. (My mistake for thinking it would subside on its own)

Help!
