Go for the IUI with a trigger shot! You can really pinpoint the timing of things. You can pass all those challenges sperm face in the vagina. Up your odds wherever you can. We did TI with injectables b/c it took my husband was resistant to IUIs at first, and it felt like we were running a race, getting to the finish line, and then stopping.

I did IUI unsuccessfully but we ended up getting pregnant with a TI cycle. We decided that since there was not really a MFI, we would rather have more control over timing. And it was a lot cheaper. IUI was not really increasing our odds much and didn't seem worth it. The TI cycle was really just a waiting to start IVF cycle, but it worked! We still did clomid and trigger injection.

@Ajsmommy: I completely agree with what you just said that it removes the most difficult barriers for the sperm. They are painless and granted, it is not as much fun as TI, but if it gives you a better chance, it is probably worth trying. Good luck!

I did 3 IUIs (unexplained infertility). My doctor said there is no point to do TI, and his numbers show a significant increase in positives with IUI vs TI. That being said, I eventually had to do IVF, but we later found out it was a fertilization problem, not unexplained.

@Shantuck: Thank you! And best of luck!!!

I think your RE is on point. When I asked about doing IUI they said that it "eliminates two of the potential hurldes for sperm. 1. the other junk in semen that is not actively moving sperm (dead sperm, mucus, other cells) 2. cervical mucus, can be thick and hard to swim through"

I also have DOR and I'm about to start a Clomid/IUI cycle. I asked about Clomid and TI and my RE said he only does Clomid with an IUI because of the fact that Clomid dries up your cervical mucus. With the IUI process, it essentially makes up for the lack of cervical mucus because the sperm are placed higher in the reproductive tract so less swimming through cervical mucus is required. I'm obviously no expert because I haven't tried any of this yet but this is the path we are going next month and that was the advice I was given.

If you had no male factor would you opt for IUI or TI?

Background: We have completed 2 medicated cycles with TI. I am the one with issues (DOR, low AMH) DH's SA was fine. I am responding to the meds (clomid/gonal f) as expected and they have suggested we do the same protocol for another cycle.

I inquired about IUI and they said it was up to us if we wanted to do that instead.

So I was wondering if anyone has done TI and switched to IUI and if so for what reason?

Did the IUI prove to be successful? Or did you stick with TI and have success?

My RE said it's hard to tell if IUI would be more successful or not....
