@gingerbebe: with no additional liquid? I've been using a blend of orange, lemon and lime juices with chicken stock, but this sounds easier and better!

Our go-to pork shoulder recipe is SUPER simple:

Put the pork shoulder in the crockpot (cut it into chunks to fit if necessary). Cover the entire top (or the fat side) with a heavy layer of onion powder and black pepper. Then add in 2 bay leaves and 4-5 tablespoons of Worchestershire sauce. Let it go on low until it falls off the bone, like 12 hours or more.

Remove the bone and excess fat globs and you've got delicious plain roasted pork. We shred it and run it under the broiler with a spoonful of the juices until the edges are crispy for amazing carnitas tacos, or you can serve it as-is with a squeeze of lime over rice for pork adobo.

Generally, we usually use half the meat "plain" for other Mexican purposes or it makes MEAN Cubano sandwiches with ham, pickles, and cheese. Into the other half of the meat/juices we throw Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce for pulled pork. It can be used for pulled pork sandwiches, pulled pork nachos, etc.

We're smoking a few shoulders this weekend! Otherwise, it goes into the crockpot with the same rub we would use if it was smoked. We add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the crockpot. Either way, it's shredded for multiple uses.

OMG, this recipe is my favorite and I've been wanting to make it again (it's not actually spicy). Bonus is that DS loves it too:
http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/spicy-shredded-pork/

I modify it by leaving out the oregano and sugar, and adding jalapenos.

At our house that would go straight to the smoker. But if that's not an option, I'd slow roast it.

Ooh, pulled pork! DH does a fantastic one. He uses this recipe:

http://www.kevinandamanda.com/recipes/dinner/perfect-pulled-pork-slow-roasted-seasoned-savory.html

It's seriously the best, he's been using this recipe for years. Sometimes he will start it in the oven, transfer to the smoker for most of the day, and finish it on the BBQ. Even when it's just the oven, he will still BBQ at the end.

ETA: We had this for supper on Sunday, and I already want it again!
