Yep. Baby fever but my husband wants to wait for a baby till next summer, so I've got a few months still to go before we can start trying.

So far I've focused on things around the house that I always wanted to get done that I know won't be possible with a baby. That means fixing up furniture, doing my landscaping work, getting the kids potty-trained, organizing all the storage into long-term well-labeled vacuum bags and bins, prepping the kids to share a room with bunkbeds so we have a room for the baby...

And getting out with just me and the two kids, with three it will be so much harder to do things as a solo parent, so I'm trying to enjoy our outings now.

And I just spent 40 minutes bathing and dressing a screaming 4 year old, who now only wants Grandma. That’s enough to remind me to hold off for today at least

@macintosh: The Pie Life. Admittedly, I'm more of a scanner of these books, skipping parts that don't resonate with me, stewing on those that do. Both that book and Michael Hyatt's outline important areas of your life and your contentedness in each so you can choose areas to improve.

Also, Atomic Habits coupled with a habit tracker app has been pretty incredible in my life the past several months. To me, all these small improvements make me even more ready for when baby comes along.

For something a little different, check out Morgan Harper Nichols. Google image search or check her out on Instagram. She writes these beautiful and eloquent quotes...many about waiting. Those beautiful words help me too.

@SweetCaroline: Thanks for commenting! I appreciate the book suggestions- i like the idea of setting goals and I could use an uplifting book to read. What Samantha Ettus books do you like?

I had baby fever when I knew it was not realistic. We're ready now but over a year into our TTC journey for #2. During both phases of life, I have focused on the present. This was really difficult to do until I started focusing seriously on formal goals. I read Michael Hyatt's "Your Best Year Ever" and also followed Samantha Ettus. Both help you zero in on specific areas of improvement in life.

Also, coming up with seasonal family bucket lists has been super helpful. Gives us a ton of fun things to do together and guides us to spend our time intentionally. I find that with the goals and bucket lists I'm more excited and intentional with the day to day and less obsessed/longing for the future.

Baby fever is coming back! My DS is 4 and was conceived through IVF. My DH is disabled and we live with my mom now. Mostly life is easier and we’re in a good groove, but I’d love to have another. There are 4 frozen embryos from my first cycle.

Normally I’m pretty content with DS and realistic about my limitations, but I was just looking back at his baby pictures and thinking “ah yes, there’s the reason!”

My brother and SIL are about to start their own IVF treatment and I’m so excited for them. I would love a niece or nephew to spoil and my son would be so happy...but I still want to have another myself.

I tell myself that it’s not the right time and I’ll think about it more seriously next year, but I can’t help it. What did you do while you were waiting to try again? Focus in your career? Health and fitness? I want to feel like I have a plan in place.
