@Modern Daisy: yup, I'm in LIC and hoping to keep it under 500. Knowing how pricey things can get around here I know it might be tough.

@plantains: Are you in the NYC area? I thought the job they did was fine, but they didn't go above and beyond or anything. It took us a year to finally find a company that was willing to come to our place just for a tub glazing for under $500 though, so whatever. I have nothing to compare it to but the finished product is acceptable to us.

@mrs. wagon: thanks for that, good to know that one one has a a tub reglazed and was happy with the results.

I am hoping that when I tell DH that reglazing is an option he will be less annoyed with me.

@LindsayInNYC: it is actually very comforting, here is hoping DH has that reaction too.

.@Modern Daisy: were you happy with the company you used? Would you recommend them?

@Andrea: thanks, I guess reglazing is the way forward.

@pui: thanks:)

When we bought our place the tub was scary looking with bubbles and chips everywhere and just looked really old. We had it reglazed for about $400 and it looks a lot better now, but even with the reglazing there are still some chips here and there, I don't think you can avoid it with a cast iron tub.

@plantains: oh fyi... even though the original glazing job was awful, we still used the tub for years before reglazing it. When we moved out and our tenants moved in we reglazed it.

We had to get our tub re-glazed. It cost about $400. The original job was a shoddy job and it peeled and cracked from the first month we used it.

I know someone who painted their tub with some sort of enamel, I would bet this could be repaired relatively easily. I found this kit on Amazon, maybe it would work. http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-7860519-Refinishing-2-Part-White/dp/B000PTSBKW

If it isn't badly damaged, you may be able to re-glaze the tub. I don't know how much it costs in your area, but it runs around $300-400 here.

Help! In a weird moment aka my biggest brain fart ever, I threw a rag with paint stripper on it into our bathtub without thinking. It took me about 10 seconds to process the craziness of what I did and I pulled it out and instead he tub quickly then washed, but the damage was done. I now have bits that are bubbled and chipped.

DH is going to have my head when he gets home. I am totally freaking out because we just moved into this place and the bathroom is gorgeous and less than 5 years old. I have no idea what to do.
