Ask about ohss (ovarian hyperstim). Many women can bounce back from the egg retrieval after 24 hours but I got hyperstim everytime, including internal bleeding so I ended up needing about 4 days to recover.

I will plumb my questions and pass some along! And everyone's probably right-- lots more info will be forthcoming soon (for me, too, I'm sure)!

Also, can you give me the short version re: what the NK test is?

Just want to wish you luck at your consult! Looks like you are prepared. As mentioned above, they will probably give you a lot of info there, too. We had so much info to take home. The IVF orientation really helped us a ton. Good luck!

@swedishfish: @Shutterbug: That makes sense, thank you both.

@spaniellove: I'm not sure if I want immune testing or not, I read about the NK cell test in a book and it made sense to me to test for that before we put $12,000 into treatment. Would it be a good idea to do some general immune testing?

@MrsTal: the consents have to be signed in person, witnessed by the nurse (or someone) also, so don't sign them at home! I think your list is good... good luck!

Every treatment cycle starts with a CD3 workup; they have to start with a baseline. And I think vitrification is a form of freezing? Is it just an NK cell test you want or immune testing in general?

@swedishfish: We do. We talked about it a bit last night and I think we are on the same page. However, for some reason our paperwork can't be signed until 3-5 weeks before our retrival, which seems odd to me. Know of any reason for this?

Do you need to choose what to do with any frozen embryos in case of future events? We had to decide what to do in the event of a divorce or death.

My clinic sent me home with a 50-60 page document regarding IVF that answered a lot of my questions. Maybe your clinic will do the same.

Well we pulled the trigger and are having our IVF consult appointment on Friday. I was wondering if there are any questions I should know to ask besides the ones I'm listing below?

We briefly discussed it in our WTF appointment a few weeks ago, so I know that our RE recommends antagonist protocol for me and they don't currently batch patients but are looking into starting that process soon. I also have a folder with the paperwork and checklist of things we have to do before the procedure, plus a general outline of the costs. With all that info, these are the questions we have so far:

Could we do an NK cell test?
When should I schedule my SHG?
Does my CD 3 bloodwork need to be redone or not?
Can our consult with the financial person be over the phone or face to face?
Do we need to repeat the SA?
Do you do a frozen sample in case there are performance issues the day of the ER?
Is bed rest mandatory after the ET?
What time are monitoring appointments generally?
When will you start batching?
Should we/do you do assisted hatching?
FET protocol?
Do you use vitrification to thaw?
What could go wrong that could prevent the procedure from happening?

That's all I have so far, is there anything else that would be good to ask?
