@bluestriped bee: Also, google about the overfill in Follistim and Gonal F -- you may be better off ordering 3x300 instead of 1x900 vials, etc. or 2x450 vs 1x900, if it means you get the extra overfill (assuming they're the same relative price). I've never ordered either of those, but I've heard of it! Ambulatory said the Gonal F multidose definitely has an overfill.

I would get your Ovidrel in the first delivery. You don't want to mess with the timing of that, and that can be stressful! :)

I've stimmed between only 7-9 days each time, so I try to make sure I have about 10 days to start with. (I always order my trigger shot with the very first shipment, too.) If it looks like I'm going slow, I can always order another couple of days from my pharmacy that allows returns (that way, if I don't need them, it's no problem).

If I were you, I probably wouldn't order all the Follistim/GonalF right up front, just in case you don't need to break into that last pen/vial! If they're only having you start with 175IU, that's a lot of days of stimming if they keep you at that dose.

Don't worry about inconveniencing your office by having them fax the prescription to a couple of different places-- you're paying thousands of dollars for this service, and I'd expect them to help you however you need. :)

Sorry if I'm not coming across clearly-- I'm at work and am a bit fractured!

@momazon: Yeah, that's the problem I'm having right now. I don't want to buy extra and have it sit, but need to be able to buy more than two medications to take advantage of WinFertility.

How much time do you get before you think you are going to run out of meds and re-order? I think most of these fertility pharmacies do a 2 day shipping so as long as I get 2 days notice, I should be fine.

Oh, I think I'm doing daily monitoring, but what happens if they tell me, that I'm going to trigger tomorrow and I don't have my meds. I think that's what worries me. That I won't have enough time to order my meds.

Oh, I was told my dose of the follistim or gonal-f would be 175 IU at the start.

Also, the other thing is am I being an inconvenience by having my RE send my RX to different pharmacies?

If I want to chance it, I can leave Ovidrel, half the follistim and half the menipur for a second delivery

I'll check them out next time I order, thanks! I'm so happy you found a place to work out a deal for you!!!

For comparison sake, for others who find the thread

Prices at Ambulatory Care Pharmacy (Rockville, MD):
$708 for Gonal F 900 IU ($828 minus $120 mail in rebate)
$354 for Gonal F 450IU multidose ($414 minus $60 mail in rebate)-- this would have overfill in the multidose vial, so you'd get extra and might work out a bit cheaper in the end
$70 per vial Menopur
$70 per shot Ovidrel ($80 minus $10 mail in rebate)

If you're worried about having enough Menopur but want to only include 10 vials with your initial WinFertility order, maybe you could order that set of 10 extra with Ambulatory and that way you could be able to return it if not needed? Is your RE pretty sure that you're going to use all 2700IU of the Gonal F? I'd hate for you to end up with a whole pen you can't use. (I ordered the full prescription for my first IVF cycle and ended up with a ton of extra meds that cycle).

So an update.

I called a bunch of pharmacies that my RE recommend.

The list was.
http://www.mdrusa.com - price list online
http://www.avella.com - price list online.
http://www.freedomfertility.com- price list online
http://www.stroheckersrx.com (you have to call for prices)
Ascend Pharmacy which is now Briova RX (I called Briova and they had none of my fertility meds)
Walgreens uses http://www.winfertility.com/ - you have to call them

So here are the meds that I needed to get:
Follistim (600 IU) x4 [or Gonal-F (900 IU) x3]
Menopur x 20
Ovidrel x 2

Total prices of meds for MY meds:
Freedom pharm:

$6,063 for all meds including Follistim
$4,483 for all meds including Gonal-F

Individual prices
$1079 for follistim- 600 IU
$912 for Gonal-f- 900 IU
$78.90 for Menopur
$84.50 for Ovidrel

Oh, if you get a quote from their website, they will give you $100 off your quote if you spend $2,500.

Strohecker's pharm:
$4,095 for all meds including Follistim
$6,118 for all meds including Gonal-F (They are not a preferred vendor for Gonal F so it's more expensive)

$915 for follistim- 600 IU
$1,895 for Gonal-f- 900 IU
$81.95 for Menopur
$134.50 for Ovidrel

MDR:
Follistim 600 IU - $557
Gonal-F 900 IU - Don't have
Menopur - $77.93
Ovidrel -Don't have

$3,995 for all meds including Follistim

Avella-
Follistim 600 IU - $536
Gonal-F 900 IU - Don't have
Menopur - $817.75 for 10 vials
Ovidrel -$123

$4,025 for all meds including Follistim

WinFertility

So this Fertility pharmacy is the pharmacy that Walgreens uses. I called them to get pricing they give me a cash discount quote (If you can pay with cash, check, money order, cashier check, or electronic transfer you should definitely use them. Oh, I believe they are a pharmacy that help patients who have to pay for medications out of pocket (no insurance).

They don't give our individual prices for medication. Which is why I haven't listed them. You have to buy two or more medications to get their bundled price. I called them on Friday and they said they would send me an email with link to enroll in their program. It was a simple contact form.

Anyway, here is the prices I was quoted.

Oh, they don't have Gonal-F, so I'll have to go with Follistim.

For all of my meds including Follistim= $3210 (cash discount) Yup!! More than $1000 less than Freedom Fertility if I went with Gonal-F.

I, also, got them to quote out all my meds minus 10 menopur. $2407 (cash discount). If I go this route, it might be tricky to get more menopur if I need it because like I said above, I have to get 2 or more meds to get the bundled cash price. I might keep Ovridrel off my first order and save it for my second order with more menopru if I need it.

Up until Friday, I really thought I was going to get my meds through Freedom Fertility but since I'm able to electronically transfer funds, I will definitely be going with WinFertility... for the WIN!! Haha.

When I first started getting quotes with Follistim, I thought I was going to have to spend over $6,000 for meds! Yikes! That's when I considered getting less vials to save money and buy what I need. Get a second order if I needed.

Now with WinFertility's prices, I'm able to get all of my meds for almost half than what I first thought.

Conclusion---
If you can pay cash (electronic transfer), call WinFertility and see if they have a better bundled price for you.

Oh, also, another tip that was suggested by @Spanielove was that I should put it on a credit card that gives cash back. I put it on my Costco AMEX and I got at least 1-2% cash back. So that saved me $110 so far. I plan to put my meds on my AMEX to get more cash back.

Also, I've read the Gonal-F pens are overfilled, so you might be able to stretch a free dose or two out of your supply-- I've read the smaller ones are overfilled by the same as the larger pens sometimes, so end up being a better value when you take the overfill into consideration. I think you can extract the extra with a syringe?

look for local independent stores. These would be owned by a single person vs. a large chain. I know medicine shoppes are independent stores, so you could start there.... but even better might be a hole in the wall pharmacy in your town only! Pharmacy prices are NOT set... so definitely call around.

My girlfriend that went through it called pharmacies and asked for price quotes. She found an independent store (vs. your big name Walgreens / CVS) had better deals. She was 100% cash though, not sure if your insurance is picking up anything.

That way, you could get 50% savings on the Bravelle and 15% off the other meds (Menopur, Endometrin & trigger shot) with the IVFGreenlight program. I think they're the same thing, except one is synthetic and one is naturally derived?

Might be worth asking-- it saved me $1400 this last cycle (I was on 300 units of one in AM and 300 units of the other in the PM). I don't think you can use the rebate program unless you order both Menopur & Bravelle together. :( (But I've never priced out Follistim, so I don't know how your numbers would compare).

I'm so excited you're almost getting started!!!!

@twodoghouse: Oh, cool. Good to know. Hoping I respond well so I can get my ER and FET in before the end of the year!

@bluestriped bee: I'm not 100% sure, but my experience is that I was a good responder on Clomid (at lowest dose) and a quick responder on Follistim!

@PurplePumps: Oh, I don't know, but I'll ask the dosage. Good suggestion!
@FliegepilzHut: Yeah, I only want to get what I'll use.
@twodoghouse: The only injectible meds I've been on is the trigger shot. I was on femera for my IUIs I think I responded pretty well on them. I have no idea how I'll respond on follistim/menopur. If you responded well on femera/clomid, does it mean you'll respond well on follistim or menopur?

@bluestriped bee: How do you respond to meds? I was a fast responder so I might not be typical in ending up with stuff leftover. I would definitely try to start off with less, though, and refill as necessary!

@bluestriped bee: I would definitely only fill as much of the Folistim as they think you'll need and get refills as necessary!

@bluestriped bee: Can you find out what your potential dosage will be? My prescription had 4 Gonal pens and I didn't even use 2 full ones. I'd definitely buy 2 at first depending on the dosage and then order 1 at a time more as needed. At 1k/pop, I sure wouldn't want an unused pen sitting around!

@twodoghouse: My RX said I'm suppose to buy 4 follistim pens/cartidges (600 IU, I think). I looked and they are about $1000 each! Yikes. Should I only buy 2 and buy another 2 later if I need it. I think pharmacies that I'm looking at do overnight the meds.

I asked my RE's office if they had samples. I got all of my PIO, some Follistim and Crinone that way!
