Endo is really mysterious. Some people think that a little bit of endo ruins the environment for fertilization. But IVF circumvents all that so there is hope!

I just want to say that I have three friends (two were close co-workers that did IVF the same time as me two years ago) that all are undiagnosed and just couldn't get pregnant on their own (or with multiple IUI's) and IVF worked for all of them. So even though it doesn't "make sense" that on paper you and your husband are fine and should be pregnant, IVF may just be the thing for you! :) So try to be positive that it will work for you!!! :)

I did two different protocols. The first didn't work for me, my progesterone spiked and my IVF cycle was cancelled on Day 4 of stims. Then I switched to a different one and it worked beautifully.

I second the Shady Grove recommendation... their website is full of good resources. I've also seen the author of the book @PointeShoesTutus mentioned has a blog where he answers questions - it comes up a lot when I'm googling things :)

Completely understandable that you want as much information as possible! It's a big step and a very expensive one.

I am going through my first cycle now (so I can't answer your fertilization questions yet) and I do agree that the Shady Grove website has a lot of great information. I am doing an antagonist protocol with the extended lupron. I'm 32 and I have PCOS which is controlled with Metformin, I also have hypothyroidism. I started BCP on 04/26 and took my last BCP on 05/18 so I am now waiting for AF. I started lupron on 05/16 and will continue with that until the RE tells me to stop. I will cut my dose in half when I start stims on 05/31. My RE has me taking Gonal-F and Menopur. Estimated transfer/retrieval week for me is the week of June 9th.

If you have any questions, definitely feel free to ask me!!

I found this book to be a good IVF resource in general. The authors do a pretty good job of explaining the different protocols.

I'm not sure about the different protocols (agonist vs. antagonist, though googling those terms may help). I know I did the shorter one and started stims on Day 4 or so of my cycle after stopping bcp. I've heard of some people starting lupron at the end of the previous cycle for a different protocol. I believe @shutterbug has done both protocols and may have a similar IF history.

I found the Shady Grove website to be pretty informative for all things IF/IVF, even though that's not my clinic: http://www.shadygrovefertility.com/

Hopefully this IUI will do it for you and you won't have to worry about IVF. But if you do, I found the process a lot less scary than I had anticipated.

Hi ladies -- I was wondering if any of you in the IVF veteran camp could help me understand the different IVF "protocols." Perhaps there's a website you found particularly informative? I have a good AMH and am in the 30-35 age group, so I'm guessing I will be on a milder stimulation.

We are currently unexplained, though I have very mild endo (found on a lap and visible only on my bladder), and slightly elevated levels of testosterone and DHEA-S.

For those of you who have gone through this... how often do they find that all eggs are just not fertilizable? :| I feel like if my eggs were ok, we should be preggo by now, especially since I am ovulating, my husband has good sperms, and my tubes are clear. I am worried about the odds of IVF really working for us. We're giving IUI another shot this month, but I didn't seem to react particularly well to the Femara (very painful AF who arrived at 11dpo, so earlier than usual!!).

thanks for the input.

xx
