@AmeliaBedilia: I'm totally stalking this thread in case I'm here in month. I'd recommend CoQ10 as well as that helps with egg quality.

Have you head of the podcast Beat Infertility? I've been listening to that recently and it's given me lots of things to think of. In that podcast, they have an RE that is regularly on and actually she says that there is no medical evidence that DHEA is helpful and doesn't recommend melatonin. It's so hard because it seems that all RE's have difference suggestions.

@PurplePumps: Hugs! It's so frustrating when the few things going right change.

@YogiRunner: praying for good news! Being a poor responder is one of my big IVF fears.

My first IUI is Friday. I'm trying to do all the pre-IVF things in case, since it seems like everything needs three months to work. What do you recommend? I've already started DHEA, vitamin D, melatonin, and acupuncture. Anything else?

Had my first u/s today at CD6, after 4 nights of stimming. I hate it when the tech tells you what's happening, I'd rather hear it from the doctor, but I was shown "one little follicle" on the right that "needs to grow", and then she was silent the rest of the u/s. Um, thanks, now I'm freaking out that I'm a poor responder. Longest wait ever for the nurse to call...

@purplepumps: UGGGH I'm so sorry. The worst.

ANNNDDDD... AF is freaking early again. I was supposed to test Friday and I started spotting yesterday afternoon and full blown by yesterday night..10dpo! WTF. My always 14 day luteal phase was like the only thing that wasn't wrong with me and now even that's f'ed up.

@PurplePumps: I have PCOS and a doctor I consulted with (although ultimately did not use) was going to do a different stim cycle based on that (instead of gonal f or follistim he wanted to do just menapur). The clinic I ultimately went with said there was no need for a different protocol.

@YogiRunner: I think these meds can definitely mess with us! I've always had a 14/15 day LP, and the one cycle I took Estradiol it was AF came 11 days post ER. Related or coincidence? Not sure. I went right from that failed IVF to a stim/TI cycle, and I'm 10dpo now, and just start spotting today so AF is probably early again, but no Estradiol to blame this cycle.

And a quick q for this crew... I have been taking estradiol since CD21 of my previous cycle to prep for this IVF cycle. My doc had me stop it as of last night and I'm on CD5 of the IVF cycle, and have been on stims for 3 days.

So here's my question: AF this cycle was really weird. Started off normal enough with spotting then got really heavy with a big clot (sorry for the TMI). Now, as of last night, it completely disappeared. No spotting, nothing. My period usually lasts 6-7 days and tapers off with some spotting. Has anyone experienced this with estradiol or their stim meds? My body is confusing me!

@agold: Hey! I'll definitely keep you updated on how it's all going. Right now I do take 1 subcutaneous shot a night (I mix Gonal F and Menopur so it's only one shot), besides the mixing being a little confusing the first few times I did it, and just getting over the mental hump right before you inject, it's really not bad at all. Quick little prick. I'll be thinking of you!

@PurplePumps: Honestly? We don't really know. My hormones are messed up. The last two stims I did (antag cycles) were freeze alls because my progesterone went insane ... who knows if it's related to one of the drugs, or the testosterone levels, nobody can actually say. They did check me for CAH (congenital adrenal hyperplasia) because of the levels, which came back negative - so mine seems directly linked to the PCOS. I wish I knew, to be honest. :(

@jaguar: Did that effect your treatment? I asked specifically if it was or wasn't, what would be different in moving forward to get pregnant and he said nothing, which I thought was really odd. The only thing to gain would be be to diagnose it and know the reason for the infertility and since it could have other health implications down the road.

@PurplePumps: Have you heard about the girl who writes what turned out to be an inspiring blog where she used a surrogate recently but got pregnant on her own also? She had so many struggles with getting pregnant due to various infertility type diagnosis. After years of trying, she used donor eggs and a surrogate who ended up getting pregnant with twin boys. While the surrogate was something like 5 months pregnant, the girl got pregnant all on her own with a little girl!! Its such an amazing story. Her twins were just born a bit ago. Can you imagine that girl's surprise at getting pregnant? I'm sure she really didn't think she could. Its stories like that that keep me feeling a bit hopeful. I'm not expecting to get pregnant on my own ever, but I do have a tiny bit of hope that maybe, some time, even if its years from now, I will get pregnant on my own. There's no harm in "trying" each month.

I had my second consultation today with BWH and he focused more on getting a diagnosis and seemed concerned with the fact that my cycles have always been wildly irregular. He seemed to think that I may have PCOS and wanted to test for testosterone/DHEA and do a ultrasound specifically to look for that though my only symptom is irregular cycles. I thought i twas odd that a baseline CD3 u/s for cycles wouldn't catch anything, but he said that unless they are looking and counting follicles to specifically diagnose it, the baseline CD3 u/s doesnt tell any thing about PCO. Then oddly, when I asked if it was, what would change about a next step and he said nothing, still IVF. So on top of that ,he wanted to do AMH, all the TSH, FSH, E2, etc again. I was going to do it, but then decided I would wait until after my consult with CCRM since I've read they'd make you redo everything anyways. And pushed off my last consult with RMANJ until September.
And 7dpo right now with that wonky gonal cycle.
