I haven't frozen any embryos but I was reminded recently that your current baby becomes a twin to your new baby after an FET. I had never thought about that. Super cool!

We had frozen in storage for a year, which was included in our fee. We discarded it tho, so, unless we conceive naturally, no more via ivf/fet for us. Since we have twins. If we had a singleton, we would have done a frozen.

@swedishfish: Our place will prorate the cost per month once you do an FET, so we didn't have to think about that, but if we were in that situation, I could see how that would change our timeline.

Part of my concern is the cost of the frozen embryos. Our insurance, while fabulous, does not pay for their storage. We had to pay over $400 for this year because our storage fees began in April. If we prepay for next year it will cost us $600 (instead of $1200 paying month to month). That is already over $1,000 so we might as well use them from the start I guess? But we will not be preventing either because there doesn't seem to be a need to.

We are not preventing. If nothing happens naturally by the time LO is 16-18 mos, we will do a FET. I also think we would only do one embryo at a time. No way can I handle a toddler and newborn twins.

@LMOG47: I think it's a girl only because I've known six boys born recently and only one girl but who knows? This kid doesn't want to come out so I can find out! I'm being induced on Monday though so I'll know early next week.

Oh, we still can't decide on ONE girl's name so don't worry!

@brady80: may I ask how many embryos you transferred during your FET? We transferred two during our fresh cycle but I'm wondering if it's better to just transfer one during a FET.

@brownie: yes, I was thinking about what type of birth control I'd go on after this baby decides to show up and then started laughing because I don't need any.

I have to set up an appointment with my RE for the fall. He said he wants to see me 3-6 months after I give birth. I'll ask him about FETs then.

I'm 37 weeks pregnant following a FET. It was so much easier then a full ivf cycle. We talked about trying in our own for #2, but not for too long, maybe a few months. I won't be going on bcp!

Whether we have more is down the road since we're currently expecting from ivf but most likely we'll try naturally for a bit but move fairly quickly to the frozen since we have them.

@swedishfish: one "advantage" for lack of a better word, is that you can try with no commitment before going. It's been 2 years with no birth control and no baby. So that is an option.

The FET so far isn't too bad. Much more relaxed than the full thing. We only have to go in a handful of times instead of every day for 2 weeks.

@brownie: I seriously doubt we will be able to conceive naturally either as we have both male and female factor infertility. Even if I began ovulating on a regular basis we would still have DH's issues to tackle.

Good luck with your FET! I will have to pick your brain because I know nothing about FETs.
