@winniebee: same as @JoyfulKiwi! I've read her blog quite a bit but not the books yet. I definitely incorporate her advice into my parenting. And through her blog I've learned about Magda Gerber and RIE parenting- I want to learn more though!

I   Janet Lansbury! I read her blog and am trying to find time for her book, so I'm glad there's an audio version. Almost everything she talks about just feels right and makes sense to me. It works so well for our family (and my early childhood classrooms).

Ive been following her blog posts and her on Facebook for short tidbits of info because I have found the idea of reading a book somewhat daunting as I'm pretty much dealing with a cranky overtired toddler every hour of the day and into the night.....so basically I really need to read it ASAP.

so funny, because i just finished reading no bad kids as well, and found it super helpful. i mean yes it got repetitive and jumbled as most of these books do, but the core stuff i really liked. kids wants gentle but firm boundaries, will test them if they're not sure, want their feelings to be acknowledged, can handle a little choice, etc. anyway i've been trying to keep these things in mind and practice them. it doesn't always work, especially when LO has gotten really worked up, and sometimes i definitely lose my cool, but i am glad i read that book.

@cascademom: I think Angela Lansbury is Janet's in-law (I don't remember the details, but there's a family connection). She explains it on her site, if memory serves. :) And yeah, I loved "Murder, She Wrote"!

Awesome! We're a Happiest Toddler on the Block fan. For us, really listening to what he says and him understanding that we hear him helps.

I totally thought that you said Angela Lansbury and thought, "awesome, Murder She Wrote" rocks your socks off.

I've been having a hard time with communicating and setting boundaries for my almost 3 year old (particularly since baby brother arrived 4m ago). So, I decided to take control to help get back my happy house. Two days ago, I read Janet Lansbury's "No Bad Kids" (well, I didn't "read" it - I listened to it on Audible via Amazon - just over 3 hours total and I did it while doing chores etc). I had read good things about her on Hellobee but felt I never had the time to read a parenting book. Her approach is respectful parenting without time outs, yelling, or spankings. I am trying very hard to implement her approaches and can say that the differences have been life changing. I wish I had started reading her works years ago.

Is there a particular parenting book or method that works for you?
