I totally meant to post when you bumped this, but got distracted by a 15 pound ape.

Cam turned 16 weeks Saturday- he has been really fun for the past month!! He smiles most of the time, sleeps though the night, and is starting to laugh. He is starting to reach and grab onto me when I pick him up. We have crummy days here and there, but as a whole I love hanging out with him!

We are still working on rolling over, it is still hard for him to pick his 99th percentile head off the ground (we call him Mega Mind). But the rest of the time his head control is pretty decent. I hear that 5 months is the best time, but I've really enjoyed 12 weeks on so far.

@ElisaT: I completely know what you mean about the husband having the magic touch. My husband is the same way!

Feeding was tough for the first couple weeks, since she had problems latching, but now we're doing great. Pumping hurts my nipples so I haven't built up a supply like I need to. I just ordered some new flanges so I'm hoping that will help.

@babyboecksmom - I'm exhausted too but you're right, I wouldn't trade this for anything! LO seems to be extra fussy at night too and wants to feed every hour, but sometimes this results in a longer sleep cycle. It's a good thing fussy hour is at night when my husband gets home because he has the magic touch that settles her down. How is feeding going for you? It was rough the first week but I'm starting to get the hang of it now. I just started pumping this week to try to increase my supply so I can begin storing for when I go back to work and also so DH can help with a feeding a day.

@ElisaT: Congrats on your LO!! Sorry to hear things didn't go as planned :-(

So far things are going pretty good, except in the evenings when my husband gets home. For some reason, she is always upset and screaming for an hour or two before we can get her to calm down.

Other than that, I'm loving being a mom and I have a new appreciation for all the other moms out there. I feel like there's no time in the day to do anything except feed her, change her, and put her to sleep, before I have to redo that cycle. But I wouldn't change it for the world!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to check-in and see how everyone is doing with their new addition. =) Did you end up having LO early, on time, or late? My LO was due on 1/26 but didn't show up until 2/2 - a full week late! I went into early labor 3 days prior but contractions didn't get going until the day before. I was in active labor for 16 hours and pushed for 2.5 hours without epi but ended up with emergency c-section due to LO being face forward (posterior aka sunny side up) and head was angled. When the OB on call pulled her out, she wasn't even that far down the birth canal after all that pushing! I was really discouraged at first since I was trying for natural birth but that passed. Just so glad she's here!

How are you adjusting? Sleep and feeding going well? Can't wait to hear you experience!

Well, last night we welcomed Cameron Raymond H.

Very fast labor (nothing like my birth plan), but I couldn't have been happier with the results! I'm very happy that I was flexible, the doc does these every day, I do not so I am happy I went with his recommendations.

I'll write up the birth story later, but I was crampy for two days, water broke at 2:15pm (pop, he moved, then a small warm gush, then many more bigger gushes- soaked through like 7 mega pads), went to the hospital at 3:45 at the doc's recommendation, contractions started in the car. By 4:30pm I did not want to talk through them and was at 5cm. Got an epidural somewhere in here. Progressed to 8cm after another hour and a half, and pushed for about 2 1/2 hours, he was delivered at 9:50- it feels SO GOOD to have him out. It was hard work, but the epidural was great! Small tear, but I am easily up and about today, just sore.

The whole thing is so surreal, just yesterday at lunch we were begging him to come out, and now I'm sitting with him in my lap!

Any questions, feel free to ask, it was hard work, not always fun, but soooooo worth it!

@ElisaT: be excited, it may not mean a whole lot- since you can easily deliver the same day that you are 0 dilated, or you can wait another week at 3 cm. But it was very encouraging to me to know that I was making some sort of progress.

Braxton hicks felt like my entire abdomen tightening, no pain. The real deal contractions were like period cramps, the real, Real deal were like period cramps moving into really bad stomach cramps. More on that to come....

@lemondrop @babyboecksmom -You ladies sound like you are progressing well!v I hope your LOs make an appearance soon. =) I still have another 2 1/2 weeks until EDD and havent had any notable contractions yet. A few BH here and there but that's about it. She did finally drop for real and walking has been interesting - my hips feel so achy now. Getting first cervical check on Thursday and not sure whether to be excited (for progress) or nervous (for the unpleasantness of it)! Hope there is some progress though.

What do your contractions feel like? I'm curious.

@lemondrop: LOL - I'm not sure what my reaction would have been. "Uhhhh, sure..... I guess....." haha

I've had some weird things happen the last month of this pregnancy and they have me on edge now, even though there's still a week and a half to go.

Right before new years, I had my first cervical check and bled like crazy (enough for them to send me to L&D to get checked out). Two days later it felt like my water broke, so back to L&D I go only to find out that I wasn't in labor and they can't explain what the "gush" was. And last week, I lost my mucus plug... which I know is no indication that labor is coming anytime soon, but still! I don't want to have any more symptoms until I'm actually in labor - hahaha

Progress: Just had to do the happy dance today: 2 cm dilated!!! Been having crazy contractions every night, but nothing worth timing.

Yes, I know this can go on for quite some time, but it is nice to know we are making some progress getting this kid evicted!

Hearing that news was a great distraction from the unpleasantness of the check. I did crack up when the doc asked if the med student could check too since my cervix was so easy to find and "nicely" effaced.

Yeah, I'm in more than a little denial that it has gone by so fast (and so slow at the same time), I'm definitely feeling like I'm going to miss pregnancy, despite some of the inconveniences of it. But there is that big reward coming up soon!

Well at 36 weeks I've started some real-deal contractions- nothing regular, but definitely uncomfortable at times. The doc ordered an ultrasound asap to check his size- estimated over 7lbs at this point, causing me to freak out a little. Everything felt different after Wednesday, had my appointment Thurs, turns out he had dropped very low in my pelvis, so there is a lot more pressure down there. They won't stop labor if things progress at this point, but I'm taking it easy and hoping for another week to 10 days since I just finished work yesterday and wanted to get some things done around the house first.

Hurrah for January babies! Our due date is January 23 and I waver between wanting her to come out early to hoping she bakes longer so I can make sure everything is set. In fact, we are putting the crib together tonight! A little late in setting it up but we are stuck in a one bedroom situation until late 2012 so no big nursery projects.

I think I will really miss feeling her move inside too! The kicks, jabs and hiccups are so precious, and love that I can tell what she's doing.

I've been having some bad pain in my left wrist and not sure if it's carpal tunnel. My fingers go numb occasionally, but my masseuse this morning for prenatal thought it might be tendinitis. Any tips on easing the pain?

YAY for January on its way! I'm so excited to meet our little guy, I know I'll miss feeling him wiggle, but I really want to get this show on the road. Like you said, I can definitely tell body parts apart, he gets a lot of pats on the butt since it is sticking out of my ribs.

Due January 13th, but he's consistently been measuring 1-2 weeks ahead. Feeling really good considering- I do have good and bad days. Some days I have so much energy, others like yesterday I napped on and off all day.

The only downside is that I have severe carpal tunnel in my right wrist. My hand constantly feels asleep and tingly and swollen. The wrist brace really doesn't help much, but I will take this any day over sciatica or something really painful!

Officially finish with going to work every day on Dec 16th (moving onto small work projects at home, since they can't count on me to teach every day), so he is welcome to make an appearance any time after the Cardinals and Browns play on Dec. 18th- I really don't want to miss this game!

How are you feeling? Fine, except for some pelvic bone pain that keeps me from walking and/or standing for too long. The baby is moving all the time now and I can distinguish between the different body parts. LOVE it!!
