@MamaBehr: She's doing pretty good now. It all of a sudden got better when she turned 6 weeks. We have a night time routine now, starting around 845-9 and she goes to sleep about 930-945. She's been sleeping 5 hours the first stretch, then 2.5-3 the second and sometimes she goes back to sleep for another 45 min, or sometimes she's up for the day. She slept one random night for 6.5 hours and it was awesome! I can't wait until that's a regular thing.

I'm TERRIFIED to diet and possibly lose my supply! I'm exclusively pumping, which sucks (literally hardy har har) but it could be worse.

I'm planning on getting a nice supportive sports bra though and getting back to the gym next week! I haven't weighed myself yet, but I can *almost* fit into prepregnancy jeans.

I have typed this out TWICE now, but various things (namely my two year old) has distracted me, closed the computer, etc. @abbydabbydoodlebug: How is your LO doing with the sleep now? My little guy keeps vacillating between sleeping really well and not.. but at least I'm getting some sleep.
@Honeydew: That's terrible your LO was in the NICU! I'm so glad that everything is better now :)

My little guy is doing well. I can't BELIEVE he's three months tomorrow!!!! I hope I remember to take his three month picture (totally forgot to do the 2 month one! whoops) DD and DS#1 love him so much, it is adorable. DD loves to hold him and he just smiles and coos at her.

@MrsH: Yep, I'm down 7 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight but I'm super flabby. This week I went back on my diet I had done previously (and lost 60lbs before) and started going for nice long walks with the baby.

I love hearing how well everyone's babies are doing

I haven't had much time to be on here so here's my first update. Baby girl is 9 weeks old and doing awesome. She's such a happy baby and super social, anytime I bring her anywhere she just smiles and coos at everyone. She started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks (6-8 hour stretch, eat, then another 3-4 hours). She is starting to love toys and her playmat. She's rolled from stomach to back a few times and back to side once but that's about it. I stopped breastfeeding and have been using up my freezer stash and giving one formula bottle a day to get her used to it. She absolutely loves the formula so I don't feel bad about stopping nursing. I have to go back to work in 2 weeks which sucks but then I only have 8 weeks of work and then I'm off for 2 months for summer break.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: too bad about the MSPI...after two LOs not successfully BFing, I have become somewhat of a formula advocate in my circle. A dirty job but someone has to do it!

DD2 is 11wks tomorrow and is a sleepyhead, which is a good thing bc DD1 at 3 is harder to deal with. She takes at least 2 2-hr naps during the day and does 4-6hr stretches at night, thanks to...I have no idea. I am convinced there is not much parents can do to make their kids sleep, they either do or they don't.

She's smiling and cooing but shows no sign of rolling over (fine by me!).

I am slowly starting to work out again, but haven't this week bc we all have a little bit of a cold so I don't want to drop the DDs off at the gym daycare.

Wow, I'm super impressed that y'all are setting aside time to work out; and have the energy for it!

LO is 6 weeks old today and things are ok. I wish she was sleeping better. I tried to cluster feed her last night to try to get her to sleep longer, but she only sleeps 3.5 hours her first stretch, then wakes every 2 after that. I'm seriously sleep deprived. How are y'all getting your babies to sleep longer?

I wish breastfeeding was going better too. We were doing ok for a little while, but then it got really painful again. So much so that I thought I had thrush. I was never officially diagnosed, so I'm not sure, but I did lotrimin for several days and it got a little better, but my nipples are tore up from her latch I think. She was clicking a ton and I think that's what caused it to go bad again. I'm trying my hardest to get her to latch correctly, but she still clicks consistently through the feeding. I asked my Dr today for APNO, so I'm hoping he'll send in a Rx for that and it'll help.

LO was diagnosed at 2 weeks with MSPI, so I've eliminated a ton of foods out of my diet. If she didn't have MSPI, I would be seriously considering formula, but I can't because it's so expensive, so I have to make BFing work.

She's cooing and smiling a bunch and rolled from belly to back a couple times, but she doesn't like to be on the floor much, so we are limited on practicing that. She really enjoys reading books with me, although she watches me most of the time instead of looking at the book, lol.

I'm hoping things will be getting better now that we are at 6 weeks. I keep hearing of these miracle babies who have schedules and routines and are sleeping through the night, where we are just trying to survive still. I have no idea where to start with that.

Wow time is flying! I know this thread is for the first few weeks, I'm just now coming up for air and to the land of the living.

Recap from the first few days. My lil guy arrived after three days of early labor, 3 hours of pushing with no progress, ended up with a c section. He had low blood sugars and was in the NICU for 16 days. It was a scary time because the doctors didn't know why it was taking so long for a full term baby to stabilize his sugars.

Fast forward to now, he's happy and healthy, and I swear he's going to be a little stinker. He's starting to develop a schedule. Started sleeping through the night at 7weeks (with the help of the magic merlin sleep suit).

I just returned to my first workout pp/post c section yesterday. Ouch, I am really sore. I took it really easy too. My hope is to firm up this pouch I got going on. I'm not too far from my pre pregnancy weight. I've got about 7lbs to go (complements of the stress of DS in the NICU and had no appetite). My goal is to get to wedding weight, so my target is about 20lbs to lose.

I'm game for a support thread for pp weight loss if you gals are in.

Hope you gals are well!

@Sugar.Biscuit: @MrsH: I'm totally on board with a weight loss board! (and I'm technically a December mommy hanging around January too!)

I lost 44 lbs right away and still have about 20 to go to get to pre-pregnancy weight and 10 more from that to get to my goal/wedding weight. I'm currently doing weight watchers because I only take things seriously when I have to pay for it! I was amazed at how much I was eating (I'm a stress eater and with DH still on crutches I have been stressed!!!) and if nothing else I'm eating better. Fruits and vegetables are 0 points, so we are eating a lot of those now.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I need to stop eating crap so Monday I'm going to do the whole30. I figure that will stop any sugar cravings in their tracks and is supposed to have a bunch of health benefits.

For workouts I'm just trying to be consistent and get in 30 minutes a day.

Congrats on losing the 50! I have at least 60 I want to lose. I'd be interested in a support thread - maybe we could make it winter moms and get more people involved?

@MrsH: Good luck! What are you planning on doing? I'm heading to the gym this weekend for the first time since I was 24 weeks! I'm excited to get started again. I lost 50 after the first two weeks and then it stopped! Breastfeeding isn't helping any. Every time I catch a break I'm shoving food in my mouth. I lived off Oreos the first couple weeks lol I gave them up for Lent :-) I've got 27 pounds to go before prepregnancy weight and 88 more pounds after that till I'm the same weight I was when we got married :-/ big goals to hit before DH knocks me up again. He has been begging to get me pregnant again since we left the hospital. I was not expecting that!

OH should we start a January 2013 momma's support thread for weight loss? BTW I hope you all don't mind that I'm hanging here with you even though i'm technically a December mom...

Baby is smiling and cooing. She also rolls over consistently. We've had a horrible time with BFing and are heavily supplementing. Thankfully she is usually a good sleeper because otherwise I would be having a really hard time.

I'm getting focused on weight loss. I have baby weight and then some to lose. Anyone else? Need to get some weight off before I go back to work next month.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I can't even imagine tandem nursing. I can hardly get my sweet little boy on there, let alone struggle with another! We have been using a shield since the hospital and I lost it the other day, I NEED IT BACK! I feel like he is trying to rip off my nipple.....

We had our first big adventure! Last week we flew from TX to NY for my sister's wedding. All three kids did great and poor hubby on his crutches was very helpful. I sure got a lot of sympathy looks though (especially when I had the car seat on my back, pushing the stroller with both DSs on it, pulling two suit cases, DD trailing behind and DH on his crutches~ we were quite the sight!) We are happy to be back and to start getting DS#2 into a schedule.

How are all the other Jan babies? Is everyone smiling and cooing?

This not being gold anymore thing sucks. I can't even see the threads that I started which means I can't see all your lovely baby picture updates unless I go gold again... :(

SO both babies have slept through the night TWO nights in a row!!! Last week my LC told me to just start nursing one kid at each feeding & that I probably wouldn't need to pump anymore just increase my tandem nursing each day to try and increase my supply. Yeah....that seems great on paper. Tandem feeding two babies that like to play with the nipple is a bitch so my supply took a hit. I rented a scale to see how much they are actually getting from me. FX I can get my supply back up.

On the lighter side of things :-) our little ones are over two months old now & awake more & more each day. They have been cooing for weeks now, baby girl more than baby boy, & have started mimicking facial expressions. They love making kissy faces and sticking out their tongues. They are alot more interactive with their toys & have started grabbing them and holding them. :-)

DH on the other hand well...If looks could kill I would have killed my husband this morning as he walked up to our perfectly content son in the swing (as he was heading out for work) & "played" with him for 2 seconds & walked away. Who gets to take care of the now freaking out baby while their Cheerios turn soggy. Yup that's me. He even asked what when I shot him a look. After I said we had a perfectly content baby till he messed with him his response was really. I just looked at DH then the baby and back at DH with a "yeah really" look.

I can't believe there are January babes who are already two months old while I'm finally doing my one month update (he would have been 1 month on the 29th...but there is no 29th in February, lol)

Big milestones this month - he came home, lol, and he happily took a bottle of breastmilk (DS1 never would).

He sleeps swaddled in DH and my room and wakes up about twice a night. According to my scale he's 10.2 pounds already (which would put him just under the 75th percentile according to the WHO growth chart).

Within the past week he's DEFINITELY started being more aware of the world around him versus just staring into space. And DS1 can't wait till he can actually play with him...

@Sugar.Biscuit: oh man, I'd be so mad too! I'm thinking of doing dairy and soy for 2 weeks and then testing a little bit with the soy and see if it bothers her. The good thing is that my DH is going todo it with me, so we will both be healthier. It will be good to set up good eating habits for us before Lily starts eating solids. I sure am going to miss pizza and ice cream though. Oh well, at least I have her as motivation.

@MamaBehr: she was up to 8lb 13oz, so just one oz shy of her birth weight. I guess i got it because the incision is in a "flap" of skin so i must have not kept it dry enough and boom, yeast infection. It doesn't hurt, kind of itchy and just gross because it smells and there's some pus. Sorry. Totally tmi. Lol.
@Emsmems: overall, the appt went well, but we found out that she has milk intolerance. :( Big fat boo! She had a bm while we were there and the ped looked at it and it was mucous-y and stringy, so she tested it. So now I'm having to go dairy free, which totally sucks because I looooove dairy products! Not only that, she said to avoid soy too and that's in everything! So I'm having to basically overhaul my entire diet while battling a yeast infection, taking care of a newborn, and my Dh going back to work full time tomorrow. Needless to say, I'm overwhelmed. I especially was on Friday and cried pretty much all day. I'm feeling better about the diet now but it still sucks. I do have a friend who has a 3 month old who is also dairy free, but she didn't have to do soy as well. So at least I have her to talk to and get ideas from.

But other than that, she's perfectly healthy and doing well! I'm glad we caught it as early as we did so that she doesn't have to be in pain and fussy and we would have to deal with that.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: glad nursing is looking good for you too! How was Lily's 2 week appt? I hate that you got an infection! I got one "down there" and then got an eye infection from sleeping in my contacts too much. Yuck. It definitely sucks to have that on top of everything else!!

@MamaBehr: 2 months already?!? Crazy!!

My little man is a nursing champ! He was back to birth weight by 5 days and at his dr appt this week, at 5 weeks he is 10 lb 14 oz! He loves to eat! Our biggest problem is he is colicky! Last night I took him for a drive and 1:30 am because nothing else would make him stop crying. It was awful. I hope he comes out of this soon, or my sanity might disappear forever!!!

@Sugar.Biscuit: I hate when people tell me to nap when the baby naps. Especially since the three of mine have taken a nap at the exact same time maybe once, that I get so worried if I lay down I'll be woken immediately! I'm glad nursing is going better! Are you taking any supplements?

@abbydabbydoodlebug: How much did Lily weigh? Little E wasn't up to his birth weight at two weeks, but made it there by three weeks. How does one get a yeast infection around the scar? Does it hurt? I hate when I have that kind of stuff to deal with on top of having a newborn (with DS#1 I had a nasty case of mastitis on top of everything else)

My little guy is going in for his 2 month visit on Thursday! I can't believe it!!! He is full of smiles and even talks a little now :) It is so cute. In fact, he loves smiling at his sister and it just melts my heart.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I'm glad to hear you're making progress! That is alot of formula to go through. That shiz is expensive, so I'm excited for you that your supply is getting better!

We have Lily's 2 week appt this morning, I'm curious to see how much weight she's gained! When we went to the lactation consultant last week, she had gained 5 oz since leaving the hospital. I hope she is up near her birth weight today.
I also went to my 2 week follow up for my c section yesterday and I have a yeast infection around my incision. Blech. I'm having to put cream on it twice a day. Hoping it gets better quick!
Nursing keeps improving for us. She gets a good latch almost every time now and it is not nearly as painful. So, Yay!
DH and I are hoping to head to a mom's consignment sale this morning. We're hoping to score some good stuff! I've never been to one before, so I'm going in totally blind, lol. Wish me luck!

Finally making some head way on nursing! My supply kept dropping cause I was so tired I was just pumping & maybe nursing 2-3 times a day. LC helped me get a good latch & baby girl is strong enough to nurse wģo the shield & can now take a full feed! Im switching between the two almost every other feed till my supply builds more but I see the light at the end of the tunnel! DH will love this as they are both on Nutramigen for supplementing & they went through 4 big cans in 3 weeks! That shit is expensive & our insurance won't cover it even it its medically necessary.

Im off to target to find a daddy proof swaddle to help with bed time. I wrote a late night post about it after have to take over bed time yet again with a fussy baby.

Anyway I thought this might be appropriate for all of us right now.

Hey January mamas, how are things??

I am finally over this stomach bug that I've been fighting since last Tuesday. It was awful. I was so exhausted and poor Lily was fussy several times because I think she was feeling some of it. Her poop was green a few times which was freaking me out so we went to a lactation consultant on Friday. I found out that she is pinching my nipples, especially the left one, when she nurses. It's not super painful, just uncomfortable. But the consultant couldn't figure out how to get her latch to improve. I'm just hoping that the pain will slowly subside as time goes on. Anyway, I ended up going on a BRAT diet and drank pedialite/Gatorade combo and I think that's what really helped me feel better. Her poops are back to normal, so it must have been from me being sick.

Her sleep is going pretty well I think. I'm currently trying to get her days and nights switched around. And I think I was getting her up prematurely at night to feed because she was squirming and grunting, but I let her do that and she went back to sleep! So she slept for a 4 hr stretch last night before I woke her up because my boobs were about to explode, lol. So we'll see how long that lasts!

I hope the rest of you are hanging in there!

@Navy_Mommy: Wow, so glad everything is going smoothly for you! Good to hear all your pregnancy problems went away too. That's so awesome.

I'm kind of in the same place as you are... Waiting for shit to hit the fan. She has been sleeping at least 1 four hour stretch at night. My DH has been super helpful with getting me things so I'm not up and down all day. He was supposed to go into work today, but he is working from home since I'm still pretty sore. Breastfeeding has been going well, although my nipples are still pretty sore. I've been using lanolin and mother love nipple cream. Is the earth mama better than those? Cause I'll get it! Anything to make these sore nips go away faster! I was thinking about getting those soothies by lansinoh and see if those helped. How long are sore nips supposed to last?

Well, things are going eerily well our house. I was convinced DS2 would be a devil baby since DS1 was so easy, but so far so good! He sleeps well, nurses well, isn't fussy AT ALL. I'm still just waiting for the shit to hit the fan, honestly.

DS1 is in love with him. He constantly wants to "hold" him and "help" in any way possible (he's only 22 months). I have felt instantly better after giving birth.

Tandem nursing has been a little weird. There have been a handful of times I nursed both boys at the same time and feel like a mama pig with her piglets lol. But making milk for 2 hungry boys (I call DS2 a milk monster and DS1 will look at him and go RAWR!) makes me STARVING! All I do is eat, breastfeed, chug water, breastfeed, repeat. Lol.

@MamaBehr: OK thank you for the advice! I think I am going to skip it and just look up online how to do the other positions and if anything specific comes up, I'll make an appt. We don't have a ton of extra money which is why I was unsure if I should do it or not.

Lily slept for 4 hours straight last night! She actually could've slept longer but I woke her up to eat because I wasn't sure if I should let her sleep that long or not! My DH is still complaining that he's tired. :-P I keep giving him looks and being like, really? Lol ugh. But honestly, he has done a lot for me since I shouldn't do a lot with my incision.

Hope everyone else is doing well!
