Yes and no ( helpful, right?!) If the flight was 31k and you have 30k you can’t straight pay for the flight as part cash and part points, but you can buy additional points at time of checkout so you can still buy the flight that is more points than your current balance.

FYI JetBlue also has sales on points throughout the year, so if you know you will have a trip coming up and will be close but short on points, that’s a decent time to pre-purchase.

I’ve booked family flights using a combo of cash and points – I’ve done it in 2 transactions immediately following one another and never run into issues with getting seats together.

You can pay for JetBlue’s package deals with a combo of points and cash (i.e. you don't have to purchase additional points, you just pay straight cash).

I'm definitely not an expert on this, but you can purchase extra points with cash, so I assume you could cover the difference that way. There is a limit to the number of points you can buy, and I believe the conversion is pretty bad anyway (i.e. you pay quite a bit for the points), so you'd probably want to limit it anyway.

No idea if there is another way to do this though.

I have what might be a really dumb question. I'm thinking about signing up for a JetBlue rewards credit card for the sign on bonus of 30k points. My question is - can I pay for part of the flights in points and part in cash? The dates for our flights aren't open yet, but it seems one person's round trip flight will be right around 30k points.

But let's say each person's is 31k. Plus, I'll be booking flights for our family of 4. Do I need to be able to cover the entire 4 flights with points? Do I just need to be able to cover one flight with points? Or can I cover any shortage with cash?
