Omg, we did Asia to LA jet lag over the holidays. It was AWFUL, it lasted more than 2 weeks. But to give you hope, the way back was much better. She got right back on schedule after like 3 days. Ok so for most of my friends it only lasts a week but for us it lasted a long time. She would get up exactly at 11 pm and then play until 2 or 3 am. When she wanted to get up at 11 pm we would get up with her but keep the lights very dim, don't feed her solids if possible so she doesn't think it's lunch time or dinner time (we were doing solids and bottles still at that time). And don't stimulate her. When she seems tired again put her back to bed. Then wake her up when you want her to wake up in the US (7 or 8 am wake up time?). Just try to keep on schedule and slowly cut short the time she is awake in the middle of the night. Eventually she won't need to get up and play, she will just cry and you can try to get her back to sleep. That's what we did, but I doubt it will take as long as it did for us. Not sure what happened. Give her lots of natural light during the morning to set her internal clock on USA time. Good luck!!!!

We just got back from overseas and my little one has the worst jetlag! I thought that since she didn't really sleep our last night (only got 3 hrs on the plane from midnight-3am Tokyo time) that once we got on the ground at home, she would continue sleeping but I was completely wrong. She slept an additional 2 hrs when we got home.

We put her to bed around 7pm pacific time and she woke up at 11pm and is wide awake and wants to play. I guess in Tokyo it is now the middle of the day :-(

Any tips for dealing with jetlag or a toddler who is waking up in the middle of the night?
