I have lots of experience, and since it's HR/banking it's pretty versatile, but I don't have an MBA so automatically I'm out for a ton of jobs b/c of that. Grrr. I feel like I'm either over qualified or under qualified, there's not that perfect "goldilocks" job that I've found yet. It's so demeaning at certain points to go in for job interviews that you're totally qualified for and then to be passed over because you don't know a certain computer program (which can be easily taught) or you lack a very specific experience (I got so desperate I applied for a part-time entry level jewelry copywriting job and was declined because I didn't have jewelry copywriting experience despite 10 years of writing experience). </p> <p>And I feel you about feeling like it gets harder with time. I'm 32, DH is 35 -- I'm not looking anymore (something randomly fell in my lap a couple of years ago!!) but we both have bachelor's and are competing with a generation of graduates with bare minimum masters degrees. In the past jobs have come very easily to me, not to sound snobby! They were always just "right place, right time" kind of things, but now that I have a "career" (if you want to call it that...even at 28 I feel like I'm not grown up enough to call it that!) I find it so much more difficult to find a job! </p> <p>I work in HR so I know the do's and don'ts to the process, but dang it doesn't make it easier. I'm just glad I still have a few months (hopefully...) before I get laid off. </p> <p>Anyone else struggle with job hunting with a LO? J is 7 months old and I'm finding a LOT of jobs but they require 30-50% travel :( </p>
