@Mrsbells: I'm definitely sold on ours! I can't wait to get some new fruits - blackberries, beets - and keep on juicing :)

@Mrs.VW: I was wary of beets my whole life and finally tried them for the first time in juice form. They are sweet and a beautiful color--they are almost as sweet as carrots and apples! Don't be afraid, they are now my fave juice ingredient!

@caffeinated: I actually had read that so I put in some ginger last night. Luckily he loves ginger so that worked well :) I would normally use regular carrots but the organic baby ones were on sale so I thought I'd get them and skip cutting them on my own :)

@maybebaby: Awesome! I want to try the beets but I'm not sure what the taste will be like :/ I also have some kale at home I need to use. I tried it the first day and it wasn't my favorite smoothie but I think with oranges and carrots it might cover it :)

@Mrs.VW: If he is getting sick, you should think about adding ginger...i find that it always helps! My favourite combinations are apple-carrot, but i also like beet-pear-apples. I would probably use regular carrots as opposed to baby carrots...cheaper and not as processed! :) Juicing is a bit labour-intensive but so worth it.

Kudos to @Bluebonnet & @Mrs. Pen for planning on doing cleanses. I think i'd give up after the first day! :D

Just an update - last night my husband said he was getting a sore throat so I thought, this is the perfect time for your first juice! :) I made him 1/2 green apple, 1 orange and about 10 baby carrots. He LOVED it! I'm making him another tonight. Hopefully it will help his immune system kick his cold!

We have a juicer! I bought the juice "cook" book by the founders of Blue Print Cleanse. Such great recipes! When I'm done BFing, I'm going to do a 3 day juice cleanse.

@softcream: I talked to my SIL about it, she is in school right now to become a health coach. She even mentioned it on her health blog.
The only time it's a real issue is if you're exclusively drinking juice as a cleanse. 1-2 glasses of fresh juice a day is not harmful at all as long as you are eating other foods as your main source of calories and nutrition :)

@Mrs. Pen: i love juicing too because it's tasty and a quick way to get a lot of fruits and veggies into our diet. but i've never heard that part about flushing toxins to the baby or breast milk. where did you read about that?

Oh and so you know you can still drink fresh juice while pregnant and breastfeeding but not too much or exclusively because it will flush toxins from your body which, while pregnant would flush them to your baby and while breastfeeding would excrete to your breast milk.

I looooove juicing! We invested in a more expensive juicer. I don't juice as often as I'd like because its a time consuming process and expensive, but it's sooo good for you!

Here is one thing I wish I'd done before getting pg that you can do: a week long juice cleanse. It detoxes your body and leaves you feeling rejuvenated, I think the first couple days are hard. I haven't done it personally but I will once I'm done breastfeeding.

My favorite juice to date is carrot and apple but I love experimenting and adding other fruits and veggies such as celery, oranges, grapefruit, beets etc,

I liked the book The Big Book of Juicing which is full of easy recipes. Also check out the blog saltnpepper.tv which has amazing juicing tips and tutorials along with other great health and food advice :)

DH and I were juicing a lot just before I found out I was pregnant (I doubt it made me get pregnant, but consuming that much produce certainly had general health benefits). Lemon, ginger, carrots, and apples were all important for the taste factor!

@softcream: We just got an inexpensive Oster one to start out with. I figure if we love it and burn this one up fast, I'll feel better about investing in a more expensive one next time. So far I've only had one and that was kale, celery, cucumber, green apple and pear. Since then I've picked up some carrots, oranges and pineapple. I'm making my husband his first one tonight so I want it to be good so he'll look forward to it :)

what kind of juicer? my favorite juice is carrot, apple, ginger and parsley. i've tried some green juices too (romaine, celery, kale), but be sure to add lemon and salt if you want it to have some taste.

I just got a juicer this weekend so I'm new to the whole juicing thing but I'm just curious if there is anyone else that is juicing. We're TTC right now so I'm not sure how it effects that but we've been trying for awhile so we're past putting everything on hold for it :) Just curious what some of you are juicing and what your favorite recipes are!
