Following. I have kept my 50mm prime on for about the last year, I have learned to love it 90% of the time and hate it 10%. I need some tips too!

Not a experienced photog by any means, but my experience has been that taking the time to manual focus while shooting in auto yields better results than shooting in manual but using autofocus. Sometimes a kid is just too fast to do both and still capture the shot! I shoot usually in no flash auto or aperture priority most of the time.

I have a D5000 and just bought a 35mm f1.8 lens.

Please give me your tips and tricks. :) I bought a 50 mm earlier in the year and ended up returning it because I didn't like it as much as I thought I would so I'd like to avoid that this time around. LO will be here next month and I think it'll be great for pictures of him/her.
