At my parents house in London, Irish travellers often often turned up at the door late at night asking to pave the driveway. We usually just didn't open the door, but once I opened it, and said no thanks, our driveway is just fine. Closed the door and peeked out of the living room window to find him breaking our paving stomes with a huge sledgehammer! I hate our HOA and that FL is so CHOCK FULL OF THEM but it's nice that there's a huge NO SOLICITING sign when you pull in our neighborhood. We still get some, but I just politely remind them of the sign and tell them to leave the neighborhood. People did the same thing to my parents house, they acted as if they were broken down (hazards on, hood up) and they came to the house for "help" and when no one answered the door they robbed my parents of all things valuable. The only reason i told DH to open the door was because i didn't want someone to continue ringing the doorbell and wake up the baby.</p> <p>I wonder what would have happened if DH wasn't home! Ugh...we need to make sure our curtains are closed more tightly from now on. </p>
