So I posted on my local mom board and a friend responded that she has one that she never used and would sell it for $40. It's pink and we're team green. Thoughts? Is it gross to buy a used one of it hasn't been used?

That's the pad we're going to get. I priced out a regular chaging pad and two covers and it came out to the same price as the Keekaroo. Plus I noticed sometimes people put an insert down to protect the covers.

I have it and I love it. Easily the best purchase I made for a baby! And if we ever have another it's still in great shape. We use it now and she's two. Do it!

Love ours, got it on sale. When DS s little I would put a cloth diaper under most of his body but leave the messy part of there cloth.

We also didn't have laundry in our building so anything I could do to cut down on trips to the laundry mat was totally worth it.

No way is that worth it. I have this one that's 1/3 of the price and wipeable - http://www.toysrus.com/buy/changing-table-covers/serta-perfect-sleeper-contour-changing-pad-by-baby-s-journey-02022-43895376

For the first several months we used a cover on it but after a while we stopped. DS never really cared.

I thought about it, but was put off by the price. I also read a few reviews saying that it got cold in the winter. People would put something on it, like a blanket, to help with the problem, taking away the whole appeal of the thing in the first place!

Yeah I would not pay $100 for a changing pad. I ordered this one from Target:

http://www.target.com/p/l-a-baby-4-side-changing-pad/-/A-10462366?ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=10462366&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Baby%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Baby&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9012016&gclid=CjwKEAiA7MWyBRDpi5TFqqmm6hMSJAD6GLeANnuqCH1ZuAxvd8ssBzKMuowIv3b_bJPoZbeiiH8jbBoCYuPw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Oops, hope that link works. Anyway, it's the L.A. Baby 4 side changing pad. It's made of a plasticy waterproof material - no cover or anything needed. I guess it might be a little cool feeling but we're in Florida and my baby is super hot and sweaty all the time. I have a little boy who has a sprinkler penis so it gets peed on constantly. I just wipe it down with antibacterial wipes every day! He's 3 months old and so far we love this one. I just attached it to the top of his dresser.

@Ms.Badger: that's too funny...it's oddly my DD2's favourite hanging spot also. Whenever she's fussy we plunk her down on that thing and she instantly stops crying. Sometimes my Dh brings it out to the living room :silly: DD1 was the exact same way! No idea why but whatever works

Yea worth EVERY PENNY! My Dh is very frugal but totally thinks it's the best baby gear item we have. He recommends it to everyone all the time haha. No gross covers to change or wash, a quick wipe down does the trick.

When you consider the fact you have to buy the traditional pad plus multiple covers (and any liners you want to get) it really isn't that big of a cost difference anyway, Love love!!!

Love, love, love ours. But I didn't realize there was a similar, cheaper product on the market when we bought ours or I'd have looked into that. But closed cell foam is definitely the way to go.

I also have the soft gear one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006OKU7O4?keywords=soft%20gear%20changing%20pad&qid=1448176166&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

And I love it! Both my boys have loved being on it, it was easily both of their favorite places for a while during the newborn days. Sometimes I would just put it on the floor and let him hang out he liked it so much. We also used it for those first few sponge baths.

I love that when it gets poop on it, I can wipe it down with a clorox wipe after I clean up the poop. I love that when he pees on it I just need to grab a cloth diaper to wipe it down. I love that when it has all the poop on it I can put it in the tub and scrub it down with soap and let it dry. Granted, I never had a changing pad with cover, but it seems like such a PITA compared to closed cell foam. Just my 2 cents

We use the exact same liners as @Mrs.KMM: on a regular changing pad and covers. And if I really didn't want to deal with the laundry of the covers I could just use the liners over the waterproof material, no cute covers. I don't really get the big deal of the keekaroo, but I also haven't seen one in person.

If you do get a regular one I highly highly recommend those liners. In the early days we changed those as least once a day- combo of frequent pee/ pooper and inexperienced parents! It seems like it would take just as much effort to clean the keekaroo all the time?

I think the value depends on the kid. DD peed during so many diaper changes. DS is 5 months and hasn't peed during a diaper change yet. We got one of these wipeable changing pad covers for DS. We wash it when we get around to it but we haven't had any accidents yet.

I love ours. I balked at the price too, but it is worth it for me. I have two in diapers and even before my son was born the changing pad only had a cover half the time because it was always getting soiled. It's so convenient to be able to just wipe it down. I created a registry at target to get 15% off.

We love ours! Totally worth the price in my opinion. We live in an apartment and don't have our own washer and it was so nice to have one less thing to wash or extra covers to store.

We were able to get ours a little cheaper with a coupon so that helped. Plus since doing laundry is so expensive for us I felt like the price of a regular pad + extra covers + laundry meant I wasn't saving that much anyway.

Then you don't have the change the entire cute cover and they are super quick and easy to throw in the laundry. And way cheaper than the fancy changing pad.

The only thing is that my newborn doesn't like how cool the material feels against her back when change her, so I've ended up putting down a flannel cloth, so I do end up changing a cloth after all. But less annoying than changing a whole pad, and it doesn't get dirty that often.

Is the Keekaroo peanut worth the price? I've only ever read good things about it but $100 seems ridiculous for a changing pad. Help me convince my husband it is worth it!
