We give prune juice mixed with water daily. My DD needed the same thing and now she's on miralax. Definitely runs in our family.

@sorrycharlie: the only thing that works for us is probiotics. One a day and everything cleared right up. If we miss them we notice a difference

@Mae: @daniellemybelle: DD1 was on juice and mirlax from 6 months :/ she had wicked constipation issues. DD2 isn't "constipated" as much as just goes waaaay too infrequently and is uncomfortable in between. But DD1 was a nightmare! It was so sad :(

@Mae: Same. When LO was constipated early on potty training we got on the juice train and now we're on it for good, haha. If she doesn't have some juice every day her poops will be hard and she will hold them. She also eats a couple prunes every day, too.

We've struggled with this since 9 months and I'm in camp "juice is not the devil." I tried all the food things and some worked, some didn't, but getting her to eat a consistent amount of them (when she's a kid who needs a lot of variety in food and loves pears today and hates them tomorrow) was just driving me nuts.

So now we give juice. When we were finally willing to try juice we had to give her about 8oz per day of pear juice, 4 first thing in the am and 4 in the afternoon after her nap. As she got older and better at drinking more water and her system caught up to solids, we've been able to reduce it to 4oz/day (and now we mix it with water, so she's getting 8oz of liquid first thing in the morning and she drinks it within her first hour awake).

Yes, it has sugar in it. But we feed her healthy foods. Pretty much her only other sugar is from fresh fruit and I just don't think that a half cup (or even a full cup) of juice/day will ruin her for life ;)

Yes the P foods, making sure she's getting the right amount of fluids. Easy on the binding foods. My doctor said amaranth is really great. I also read flaxseed is good!

H loved and (still loves) spinach and okra that seemed to help keep her regular. She did not like fruit purées all that much. She is also picky with her pouches. The one brand she really gobbles up is Peter Rabbit Organics sold at Starbucks. The apple & grape flavor is her favorite!

Does she have some water with her table food? We never did purées, just table food, but we had no regularity issues. He always ate fruit like a fiend, though. Beets are good for constipation too.

My almost 10 month old will not eat purees. So I'm trying to brainstorm ways to keep her regular (she eats table food and nurses). I also need to avoid making her gassy. I can't take the lack of sleep from how much of a bellyache she gets!

Blueberries? She gagged on peaches today but I'm going to try again. Any other suggestions - juice will be a last resort. She tolerates some bites of prune purée but not much..
