@Goldengirl: I had a bottle loving LO on 3 bottles a day at 12 months old. I started wirh the morning bottle and offered a sippy cup of milk instead with breakfast. Did that for a week, then cut out the afternoon bottle and offered milk with snack. The night time bottle was the very last and the toughest, but eventually phased out at 15 months . I never put formula in his sippy cup or milk in his bottles because didn't want to deal with yet anotherswitch. Good luck!

12 months: We switched from formula to whole milk, keeping amounts and schedule the same, keeping bottles.
13 months: We switched to sippies exclusively (LO never really liked a straw cup).
15 months: We kept him at 4 feedings of 5oz until he dropped his 2nd nap at 15/16 months. He got milk upon waking from bed/nap and then right before bed (brushing teeth after).

Once he dropped his morning nap, we shifted to 3 milk servings, in sippies, 5ish oz each. First one at wakeup, next one before nap, next before bedtime - again, brushing teeth after each. He does water in open cups, Camelbaks, or 360 cups.

Now at 23 months we finally just cut out the morning milk and we're down to milk before nap & bedtime, and it helps him sleep longer, soooo I'm not changing anything. Over Christmas break we are finally giving up the sippy crutch, moving to 360 cups or open cups exclusively.

I don't like doing milk with meals because then he eats less, and sleeps worse.

At 12 months, we stopped nursing/formula ... we went cold turkey to cups with water, because she was eating a really great amount of food.

We kept a cup out (water) so she could drink when she wanted to, and offered water at meal times. I never saw any aversions to this transition.

We skipped milk, all together. Our doc says food for nutrition and water for hydration.

We are going cold turkey this weekend and will just serve milk in a cup with meals as well as one in the morning and one at night as needed.

My little one has low iron so we have to make sure he gets no more than 20 oz a day. The pediatrician said the easiest way is to offer only a sippy cup.

So my LO finally knows how to use a straw sippy cup, but uses it solely for water. He's 13ish months now and I'd like to start phasing out the bottles.

He currently has 3 bottle feeds, 6 ounces each. I'm confused how to get rid of those feeds though. Do I keep the same feeding schedule/times, and just switch from bottle to cup one at a time? Or should I get rid of having separate milk feeds all together, and give him a cup with milk during each of his meals.... which from my understanding, is the ultimate goal (vs having separate milk feeds throughout the day). I'm confused! Helppp! Thanks!
