Could you try replacing (even gradually) the milk with water for those nighttime bottles? Maybe that will seem less appealing and once he realizes that all he's going to get is some water, he'll be less motivated?

@Andrea: Ya, well I personally think it's a lot of milk ... but he doesn't drink much milk during the day so maybe in total it adds up okay.

I'll definitely ask the paediatrician come his 2nd bday (if it persists) but i think i will have to wean the midnight snack bottle. Its so weird how some days he never wakes up to ask for a bottle and then he does so 4 days in a row.

Wow, he is hungry! Maybe it is just a temporary growth spurt? We just went for our 2 year visit and the peds said 16 oz of milk was enough for the entire day so that does seem like a lot of milk. Maybe you could try to give him water but he is 22 months so he might not go for that! I wouldn't worry about it until it goes on for longer?

My LO kept waking in the night and want to nurse. The only way to get her to kick the habit was to refuse to nurse her and just let her CIO. I offered her water instead just in case she was thirsty. First couple times was rough but then she realized that she wasn't going to get any milk so she stopped waking up altogether.

@artbee: Yes I know about the whole teeth thing, hence why I also want to find a solution. I will talk to his pediatrician about it...
Like should I ignore his "milk" requests in the middle of the night? Ah... I feel so clueless.

No advice because my lo isn't there yet, but I've heard it can be harmful for their teeth. Hope someone else gives you some good advice!

Mavrick has been a pretty good eater and he's been good with sleep as well. He goes down around 7:30-8:-00 and is up at around 6:00-6:30 and plays in his room until 6:30-7:00

He still takes a bottle of milk to go to bed, and is usually out for the night. It's been a good month or so, that he's been waking up in the middle of the night asking for another bottle, sometimes two. He only asks for milk, drinks it and goes back to bed. He doesn't want to get up to play so I assume he really is hungry.

I know this technically this isn't a great thing because he can drink 8-16oz before bed and another 8-16oz in the middle of the night. Trust me, even if I change his diaper at 2 am when he wakes up, he usually is FULL of pee come morning.

I've tried giving him more food before bed to fill him up, but it's a hit or miss. Any ideas on what to do? I know he's an active little boy, but that's a whole lot of milk to be drinking at night time. Right?
