4th of July was the first time DS saw fireworks, and he was 9 months at that time.

We took the kids yesterday, because the fireworks are five minutes from our house AND we hear it at home so the kids can't sleep anyway. In hindsight, wish we'd stayed in because the show started late and it's back to day care today. They both had a good time, but they were so sleepy afterwards!

My dad had a big party with fireworks on Saturday. We tried to get our 9 month old to bed before fireworks, but there was too much going on for him to sleep, so he watched them with his little headphones.

Probably not for a while! We are up north so it's still partially light out at 10:30. The show isn't over until 11, so by the time we drove home and got into bed it would be almost midnight. Although my kid was still up at 10:30 due to the noise...

We have a 2 and 4 year old, and we've been taking them since they were born. We do spring training baseball games, which usually will have fireworks during and after the games and it's never been an issue.

We found a small church nearby that sits a couple miles from the fireworks. Our oldest is autistic so we don't like to be super close or in huge crowds. This facility has a big soccer field so the kids can run around beforehand. We have also done fireworks at the zoo before- very pricey, but dinner was included. It was a really nice setup.

Staying up late isn't an issue for mine, their bedtime is usually 8:30-9, so getting home at 10 isn't a problem. We made my youngest's nap a little later and let them sleep a little more this morning.

We used ear protection headphone things, and he did fine both years.

We watch every year from my parents' driveway. It's just far enough to be not as loud and close enough that you can still see about 80% of the show. We have s'mores and bathrooms handy. My 8 month old slept through the whole show in the pack and play in the house and I had the video monitor handy to make sure she didn't wake up crying. Perfect.

We took our 3 year old and our 3 month old to a show last night. Older loved it and younger just chilled in my arms. Go tonight if you can!

P.s. I did show the 3 year old a YouTube video to help her understand what she would see and that it could be loud.

It would be too much of a production to go and see the fireworks in our town...I just talked to my mom and she said they didn't get home until 11:30 last night. So, between them beginning at 9:30 and then the traffic on the two lane road to get out of the beach, it's not worth it.

We did a little fireworks show in our friends cul de sac last night. My 3.5 year old loved it (but all her best friends were with her so that makes it more fun!). My 7 month old liked it for about 15 minutes, and then promptly fell asleep on my chest. We were done with the show at 9pm and the kids did fine staying up. I'm with @yoursilverlining: and don't have an issue messing with my kids schedule every now and then for a special occasion (since they handle it well).

We wanted to this year at 2, but I forgot to buy headphones for her and we didn't want to risk the crowds and staying up way past bedtime just to get there and have her scared of the noise! Next year for sure!

My daughter is almost 18 months and I think I'll go tomorrow. DH is working late so it will be just me and her. I have headphones/earmuffs to protect her ears since she is already afraid of some loud noises. People have been setting them off the last two nights and when we're outside and she hears them she justs says "Boom boom!" I think it will be okay.

3 weeks? We were at a friend's party across the street from the fireworks show weeks after she was born. At 13 months, I wore her and she fell asleep midway through the show.

meh, I don't think being out late a few times a year is that big of a deal.

DH's family had a 30 minute show last night. It was probably 8:30 when it started. Both my 12 month old and 3 year old were interested but overwhelmed and fell asleep half way through. I wouldnt have kept them out for the show if I had a way to avoid it without looking like a total B. DD woke up this morning crying about the fireworks. :(

ETA: Now both kids are awake and terrified of the fireworks they hear in the street.
