People who only have one or two just don't use things for that long and may have extra money to spend on cool gadgets a multi-kid family never would buy.</p> <p>I do not think putting another person on earth is a cost to the environment if you raise them right. It had having an additional child as an item and it was an extremely high impact compared to any other item. I think a lot depends on how you are raising them- I do feel sort of terrible about the number of disposable diapers and pouches and single serve packs of billions of snacks, that are all in landfills because of my two kids. But certainly there are parents with more than two kids who do a much better job than me of being environmentally responsible. The birth rate in the US is below replacement rate at the moment I believe so on the other hand you can also tell yourself having more is helping support things like social safety nets when we get older :silly: </p> <p>If it helps you to think about it that way go for it! I know it can be really hard when you and your partner aren’t agreed on the number ... I wish to have another but my husband isn’t on board and I was talking to my friend about. She said that having more kids is really bad for the environment anyway to help me feel better about it. I guess there are some articles aboubit. I can see where that’s true but there are a lot of people who don’t have any kids nowadays by choice, so maybe it evens out. </p>
