We did it. DS was 3 when DD was born and his little room was right next to ours. Our third bedroom was in the basement and had a separate enterance so there was no way one of them would be down there. DS isn't a light sleeper and DD's cries were so soft in the middle of the night, he never woke up when she did. DD was about 4 weeks when she started sleeping in her crib in the room they shared (so early but she slept best there). They continued to share just fine for nap time and sleeping at night until DD was 10 months and we decided to move into a 4 bedroom house.

Looking back, the two bedrooms were fine but I just felt stressed knowing the LO's didn't have their own space. We also didn't have enough room for 2 dressers, a changer and a toddler bed. The changer was in my closet (we weren't going to buy new baby furniture but a big dresser with a changer on top would have been ideal to fit all of their clothes).

I'm pretty sure Mrs. Sunglasses started her daughters together when her youngest was around 1. She wrote a great blog post about it!

Our DDs share a room, but we are super lucky in that DD1 is an extremely deep sleeper.

My friend lives in a 1-bdrm apt and she had her sons sharing rooms since the 2nd one started sleeping longer stretches... Around 5-6 months. In the beginning, they had DS1 sleeping in their room with them and DS2 sleeping in the living room. Now both boys sleep in cribs side by side in the living room and she says since the transition they actually sleep better! Like if one wakes up early, they'll see the other one and go back to sleep.

If you have other questions I can ask her for you!

Even though we have enough space for our kids to have their own rooms, we plan to have them share once our baby gets older. We are thinking when he's around 1-1.5 years old.

I'm also curious about this - we are in a 3 bedroom, but in an ideal world, we would like to preserve the 3rd room for office space/guest room since all of our family lives out of town. I hope one day to have C share a room, if/when he gets a sibling.

No advice, but also following.

Also interested. We are in a 2br apartment and baby2 will be here soon. The plan is that she is in our room for a few months before she is in big brother's room.

Just curious, for those who live in a two bedroom house and have more than one kid, when did baby number two start sharing a room with baby number one??

DH and I are in the process of looking to buy a new home. The one we are interested in only has two bedrooms but we plan to try for baby number 2 next year so just trying to figure how that's gonna work...
