In the car, we were talking about how Daddy had to take the car into the shop. I said it was like Handy Manny's brother who owns an auto shop. My 3 year old replies to me "Mommy, it's pretend. It's a show I watch." Yep, I got schooled my 3 year old on pretend versus real. He knows the difference. What's awesome about the show is that he sings the songs and knows the characters. This past weekend I quizzed him, and he told me what planet Obi Wan fought Anakin on, who adopted Padme's kids and the Sith names of at least a half dozen Sith lords.</p> <p>My own son is really into superheroes, and can tell you who is on the Justice League vs who is on the Teen Titans. We got a book about the origins of various Marvel superheroes, and he pretty much has it memorized. My daughter is the same way about My Little Pony. Her favorites are Rarity and Twilight Sparkle. She can tell you the difference between a pony, a unicorn, a pegasus and an alicorn.</p> <p>I was going to say that I wasn't into fictional worlds like they are, but then I remembered that growing up, I was really into the Greek mythology. I knew all the Titans and Olympians, and the stories behind the nymphs, satyrs and cyclopes. It came in handy whenever we studied Greek and Roman myths in school!</p> <p>Are your kids really into a particular fictional world, either from videos or books? </p>
