If I'm using a recipe, I will follow it mostly to the T unless I am out of or couldn't find a certain item. Once I'm comfortable with the recipe I might modify or change certain things to adapt it to my taste.

I tend to loosely follow recipes, but I rarely follow them exactly. DH is always really suspicious of my cooking b/c he thinks it is very important to follow recipes exactly. However, everything always tastes great, so he forgives me... or I just lie and tell him that I followed the recipe ;-)

We have never followed a recipe. I find they're usually too bland for our tastes or never enough sauce. We always add garlic and garlic salt to everything minus Asian cooking.

I might look at a recipe for a idea of how to make something I've never made before or cooking temps but never follow.

I am totally open to experimenting within a recipe, but I'm not good at doing stuff off the top of my head.

@littlebug I love skinny taste! Everything is so tasty and DH never notices :)

If I'm looking at a recipe...it's mostly like you would look at a piece of sheet music. You can understand the method, the ratios, the structure of it, even hear it in your head....but it's still up to you on how to play it.

Sometimes I play it straight up because it's important to know the starting point or to use it as a point of comparison, other times, I want a little more me in it.

The only time I follow a recipe strictly is when I bake.

DH barely follows recipes at all - he improvises and makes it up as he goes along and the results are always brilliant. I'm more of a follow-the-recipe kind of girl and even then things can go wrong!!

I improvise on the second try. I will usually follow the recipe exactly the first time around so i know what it should taste like, and afterwards i can adjust. I never follow a recipe for korean dishes though. I just taste and adjust as i go along.

I never used to stray from baking recipes but now i am comfortable in decreasing sugar without compromising the texture.

I'm so bad at following recipes. Unless it's something that needs to be made in a very very specific way I usually just briefly glance over to get a general feel of what I'm going for, and then completely wing it, lol. I'm constantly improvising and amending things. It almost always works out really well!

I'm better at following baking recipes pretty precisely...I love to bake but I'm not a natural baker...but I still improvise a tiny bit with some recipes.

Do you adapt recipes that you find, or do you follow them exactly? I tend to follow almost exactly. I might adjust a spice here or there, or add or subtract something that I think we'd like or I know we don't like. But for the most part, I'm totally a follow-the-directions kind of girl. Hubs is always telling me my cooking is so great and I should open a restaurant, but I'd basically have to call my restaurant Skinny Taste and give all the credit to that website, because that's where most of my meals come from! I wish I had more creativity, and I'm trying to work on it!
