@Meggo5: Thanks! :) I can't imagine how I got along without it now.

In regards to more space, I have a greeaaaaatttt idea that I have to convince my SO is totally doable ;D. Basically I want to knock out that wall behind the pantry cabinet and put in an extra 36" kitchen cabinet next to the fridge (where the walk through space between the dining and kitchen is now. The fridge would be to your left in the photo). That will give me both much needed storage space AND more counter space, which I need so badly. The pantry cabinet can move into the dining room then, because it'll be much easier to access with the wall out.

Plans...big plans. I just have to find the money to do it all!

this is crazy that you posted this today! I was going to post about the SAME THING. only, we have room for groceries, but now no room for bottles, formula, baby food and eventually bowls and cups and all that. I was thinking of posting a photo of my cabinet to get help!

we also have no counter space, and nowhere to fit any type of storage device. ugh.

@StrawberryBee: That is beautiful! And somewhat like what we're looking for. I have been debating whether or not we need more workspace too... very limited counterspace in our new home.

Also highly recommend getting a cabinet (with doors, so that you can hide everything behind them!). I got one from crate and barrel (put it together yourself furniture), and covered the glass doors with pretty wrapping paper on the inside so that nobody could see in. This is it before I put in the wrapping paper (ignore the dog ;))

We got a small kitchen island / cart with two shelves underneath and a small drawer. That holds a lot of our big wooden serving platters, cutting boards, and some things like potatoes and onions.

We also recently got a tall bookcase with doors from Ikea (it's the Billy line) and put our food in it, like a pantry. I LOVE IT. Our countertops are clear now for food prep and appliances. It has changed our lives!

we bought a portable kitchen island on wheels at Just Cabinets (it's an overstock type place in PA), that was supposed to have a marble top, but we bought one that the marble top broke so we got it for like next to nothing. We screwed a piece of scrap laminate on there as a placeholder till we replace our lovely PINK countertops.

We have pull out shelves like this in our cabinets: http://www.frontdoor.com/sell/maximum-value-kitchen-projects-storage-organization-and-shelving/55401

This gives you a lot more space for food items or pots and pans.

We had this same issue when we bought our house last year. We bought two pieces of furniture to give us some more storage space, both from Ikea.

I am looking to all of you again for some decorating/house advice! We moved into our new home about a week and a half ago and I am really struggling to get settled in. We are not anywhere near being unpacked and it's mostly because we don't have the storage/organization space we need.

Our kitchen is much smaller than our old kitchen, especially in the pantry/cupboard department. We have very little cabinet space and need to buy either a piece of furniture for our plates/cups/pots/pans (like a large cart/island or a hutch) and then move our groceries to the cabinets or a large "pantry" piece to store our groceries. Right now, groceries are living on top of the refrigerator :( I had thought about a baker's rack to store plates on (not a huge fan of having my cereal boxes out in the open!) but am nervous about what will happen when the baby gets older and crawling/pulling up on exposed dishes and heavy cooking items.

I am feeling extremely stressed about this and I'm sure obsessing over it much more than I should be. I get caught up in looking online and in stores for pieces and then deciding that I have no idea what I want or actually need! Any advice for organizing my kitchen in an attractive and space-making way?!

Thanks!
