I had knee pain (aggravated by, but not actually painful during, exercise) that came and went for years. I never did see a doctor about it, but I got immediate and lasting relief after finally getting acupuncture for it. The pain stopped instantly, and the practitioner sent me home with some exercises that helped to retrain a few errant muscles/ligaments, and seem to have kept it at bay.

I'd say if the stuff you're already doing isn't helping them it's time to see the doctor.

With physical stuff, I'd say wait a couple of months (unless the pain is seriously affecting your normal activities). I'm not sure how far PP you are, but I had lots of different aches and pains for almost a year after giving birth. For me, it was mostly my hips, and it was often bilateral (sometimes not). Almost everything went away on it's own. I also have gone to physical therapy for multiple issues and have played a lot of sports, so I have a lot of personal experience with injuries.

I would see a doctor... I had this with my achilles but because it happens to my husband regularly I knew it was probably tendonitis, and it was. But the doctor showed me stretches and printed them out and that was really helpful. It always hurt the day after running and she explained why... of course now I forget ;)

I would see a doctor in case something is wrong that you can't fix by stretching and knee brace. 3 weeks is kind of a long time for it to be hurting that bad, and not normal to have to wear a brace to bed.

About 3 weeks or so I started getting knee pain in both knees - the right knee stopped but the left is killing me. I have to sleep with a knee brace on other wise it throbs.

Odd thing is it feels the best when I am working out - but afterwards it kills!!!

I can sit criss-cross but I cant bend my knee and sit - again, awful pain.

DH thinks I should go see a dr but I feel like they will tell me to do what I am already doing - stretches, knee brace, advil.

thoughts?
