I'm hiring one, and the hubby agrees it's totally worth it! We saw some of her recent work, and yea... totally getting it done since you miss out on all the events and emotions of everything going on because you're so focused on giving birth!

Our doula was also a birth photographer, so that was really convenient. I'm so glad to have photos from immediately after she was born (I didn't want photos of me in labor)

@juliekim: I will definitely hire a birth photographer. I'm actually a birth photographer, and it's seriously the most fulfilling/rewarding job. I meet some women who are really against it, but for those who love the idea, they've been so welcoming & grateful for my services. For people who think it's intrusive, it's just important to find a photographer who understands the birthing process, and knows how to stay out of the way, yet capture the important moments.

I had a patient that showed me her birth video... I cried like a baby watching it. I would totally do it!

I'd like to have a few good photos, but not enough that I'd want to pay for it or have someone else there for a long time of labor. And I wouldnt do anything with the photos besides look at them myself, so I think I'll just ask the nurses to take some photos when they can or something. I would just rather save the money for newborn/ family photos after.
But haven't had the baby yet so could always regret it after.

I wish I had! labor was long but the birth was super quick - I wish I had gotten photos so I can see what it was like from another perspective.

Has anyone used a professional photographer for their child birth? I would love to have a photographer at the delivery to capture all the little moments that neither my husband nor I would have the mind set to capture.

How was your experience if you hired someone? If you didn't, do you wish you had?
