My signs were kind if vague- extra nesting and losing my mucous plug but both had happened the week before as well. Oddly, my bh stopped the afternoon before labor started. I also went to bed and couldn't fall asleep and really wanted to take a shower but I decided that was ridiculous because I didn't want to deal with my hair that night and was going to wash it in the morning...

For both of my kids the first sign of labor was waking up between 2-3 am with diarrhea...kiddo #1 was born 7 hours later and kiddo #2 was born 3 hours later.

Mucous plug lost two days before, and the day before I felt like I was getting sick--tired, off, a little achy.

First one: lots of #2 and couldn't sit still.
Second one: night before while reading to my eldest, baby did a huge frantic kicking session, then slept until contractions started the next morning.

I just felt a little off and even more exhausted! It was the weekend and we went to lunch and had a short walk outside on Saturday and after that I pretty much laid around and napped etc until my water broke late afternoon Sunday.

Contractions all day. On and off, just a few here and there. We all went and got hair cuts in the afternoon and I noticed a big one there. That was about 3. By 6 they'd picked up, and by 9 I was sure something was happening.

I felt very off for days. Nothing specific, just felt like crap. I was only 32 weeks, and I had the thought several times that if I were term I would be expecting to go into labor soon. My BH's also picked up and got more painful, though I can't pinpoint when they really made the transition to actual contractions. Bleeding was the thing that finally convinced me it was real, and she was born about 3 hours later.

The day before I couldn't sit still. We did a bunch of errands and went to lunch with friends and thank goodness they had the bar height tables so I was able to stand and sway. I thought it was just normal pains from being pregnant and gaining 50 lbs. I was also having a lot of BH contractions. We went to dinner at the in-laws and I thought I was just tired from running around all day. My water ended up breaking at 1am the next morning.

I was super tired, but that could have just been from being super pregnant. I had my normal weekly check up that afternoon, and was maybe 1 cm dilated. I went home discouraged (I thought I would be more because I had lost my mucus plug earlier in the week) and took a nap for something like 2.5 hours haha. I woke up, we ordered a pizza, I went to pee before starting a tv show, and my water broke.
So, other than the obvious losing my mucus plug and having a bloody show (which my doctor told me could mean that I was going to go into labor in 24 hours or 2 weeks, so basically it meant nothing), no, nothing much to indicate labor was imminent.

Looking back on the days or moments before you began active labor were there any signs or signals that you body gave you as to it coming on? Like were you gassy? Loose stool compared to normally being constipated? Anything other than the water breaking and contractions starting.
