My LO got these beads for Christmas. They're great because they come with a plastic tip at one end of the string. My LO figured out what to do almost right away (although he did get upset because he couldn't take the plastic off the string!).

http://www.amazon.com/Hape-E1019-String-Along-Shapes/dp/B00BJ0BN0Q/ref=sr_1_11?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1388885121&sr=1-11&keywords=Hape+beads

Large wooden beads and pipe cleaners is also an excellent activity!

We have the lace and trace animals by M&D but she is too young for it yet. We will store it for when she is older.

My friend got this one http://www.amazon.com/Hape-E1016-Lacing-Pony/dp/B008E18T6E/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1388876645&sr=1-2&keywords=hape+lacing it looked really neat.

But, if the dollar store ones are too advanced... I bought pipe cleaners and let him lace them into a colander. He liked that. Then I bought some big beads for him to lace onto the pipe cleaners.

I also made some lacing with paper plates and a hole punch.

I have seen ones before that is just cardboard punched with holes and laces through. It would be an easy DIY!

Does your LO have any lacing toys? Which ones? :-)

(My LO's December report card mentioned that she likes lacing/stringing activities.)
