On not so great nights I would get anywhere from 2.5 to 4 hours of sleep. My LO is now 6 months old, and I'm averaging around 6-7 hours. One of the biggest reasons why I would get so little sleep was because of my pumping schedule (I'm an EP), and it took me the longest time to drop down to 1 middle of the night pump instead of 2-3.

I just started a thread on sleep-deprivation and I suppose this relates.

My LO is going through a bad sleeping phase. She'll sleep (at night) for a 3-4 hour stretch and then she's up every. single. hour. In the last 5 days, I've been averaging 4-7 hours of sleep per day and it's taking a toll on my. I feel like my brain is fried!

You guys are going to hate me!

DD was up every 45 minutes for the first few nights. By her two week growth spurt she was up for 45 minutes every 2 hours eating and then would "marathon feed" from 3-7 am. But now, she sleeps from 10-4 straight through and then gets up again around 7. Last night she slept from 11-6! It's getting better (knock on wood)

Pre-baby, I was asleep by 10 and awake at 6:15. I need a lot of sleep!

Now, my son goes down around 7:30 and I go soon after, I like to frontload on sleep in case he has a wake up in the night.

My son just isn't a great sleeper. We've had less than 6 nights total that he's slept through the night, the mom definition, not the medical definition. He goes down at 7pm and he wakes at 5:45am. When my son was a newborn he slept for 3 hours at a time (co-sleeping). At 2 months we transitioned him to his own crib (swaddled) and he'd sleep for anywhere from 1 to 3 hours at a time and would nurse back down within 20-30 minutes usually. At 5 months he'd sleep from 3 to 5 hours and would still nurse back down fairly easily. At 6 months we took away the swaddle and I stopped nursing him at night and he wakes 1 to 3 times a night but getting him back to sleep takes anywhere from 10 to 90 minutes (teething is a real pain, and not just for baby!). I think "normal" is still a long way off for us.

I am pretty spoiled in terms of sleep as my daughter started sleeping through at 8 weeks but she has never been a good napper so I guess it sort of evens out as I have always been really tired caring for her during the day time.

i slept pretty well throughout my first pregnancy. for my second though, the third tri insomnia 6was very apparent. i would wake up at 2 or 4am and have alot of trouble going back.... practice for what was to come?

my 3.5 month old is sleeping pretty well, waking up once or twice to feed a night. once you have a baby, just a 4-5 hr stretch of sleep is nice.

i usually sleep from midnight until 7:30, waking up twice to pump, so I get about 6 hours of sleep. i'm so tired by late afternoon that i usually take an hour - hour and a half nap. so i get about 7 hours of sleep a day. i think producing milk just makes you tired!

charlie started sleeping through the night at 4 1/2 months and that's when things got easier. i just hope and pray that olive turns out to be a good sleeper because sleeping through the night is such a blessing!

I've actually adjusted well from my wacky college days where my sleeping pattern was all over the place.

I wake up at 730 every morning for work and usually go to bed around midnight. On the weekends, I sleep in until 830/9 and usually try to sleep before 2am. So overall, it's an average of 7-8 hours a night.

For pregnant bees and mama bees, how much sleep do you get on average and at what stages does it get back to "normal"?
